when you kiss a boy there's this kind of pressure, one that rests on your lips but doesn't stay- that travels to other parts of you and seems to breathe life into every cell of your being.
when you kiss a boy, your toes curl and the hairs on the back of your neck stand on edge as you feel as if you're completely on fire.
when you kiss a boy his hands are in your hair and pulling, pulling, pulling, and it's intoxicating because the taste of his tongue on the roof of your mouth seems to work wonders at removing all rational thoughts from your brain.
now, all these things are common, and all these things are great, but what about when his nose runs against yours and his eyelashes tickle your check bones and his nails dig delightfully into your skin?
what about when he pulls away and the feeling stays behind, tingling, tingling, tingling, and makes you bite at your lips and pull at your clothes to try and stop it, because you hate it, the feeling of his lips being there when in reality they aren't and you only want what's real and authentic.
and he's laying down to rest and your wide awake and you already feel as if he's a thousand miles away, back in Australia where he'll be leaving you to go the next morning.
when you miss a boy, it's like you're drowning.
where is hands were, scratchy clothes replace it.
his lips, your fingers.
his eyelashes resting against your cheeks? cold, salty tears.
when you miss a boy, there's no singing coming from the kitchen as he makes you breakfast, no warm arms, and the toilet seat isn't left up as often.
when you miss a boy, there's nothing common and there's nothing great because your bodies shaking and the tears soaking into the cracks of your lips aren't enough to replace the warmth of his and isn't enough to satisfy you.
when you miss a boy, you miss yourself.
and when you miss a boy, you'll finally understand what it's like to truly love and be loved.
