Prompt: CONNOR WORKS AT A COFFEE SHOP AND TROYE TRIES TO ROB IT BUT FORGETS WHAT HE WAS DOING WHEN HE SEES CONNOR AND HIS BEAUTIFUL GOD-LIKE FACE (given to me by @Livi_is_not_on_fire )
Connor sighs for what seems like the 100th time tonight- a cold Tuesday night to be exact- as he wipes down the counter. He's closing up the coffee shop he works at- Cams Crazy Coffee- when he was supposed to of gone home three hours prior.
But puppy dog eyes, one irresponsible co-worker, and his inability to say no landed him an extra shift. And a very angry mom and a crap ton of homework for when he's done.
He opens the register and checks the money count before closing it with a smile and locking it up. Now finally he can grab his things an-
"PUT YOUR HANDS UP!" A voice screams as the front doors of the shop are thrown open. Connor yelps, throwing his hand up and looking at the intruder in fear. He's taller than Connor, skinnier maybe but probably tougher. Connor isn't a fighter and you have to be a fighter to rob a coffee shop right?
Silence follows as the guy just stands there, starring at Connor with wide eyes as his gun is still held up and pointed in his direction. Connor begins to wonder if the guys going to make a move or stare all night.
"You gonna rob me or..?" Connor asks and the guy just shuffles a bit in place, wiggling his arms to loosen any tension before holding the gun back up.
"Y-yep...gonna...rob you." He says slowly and Connor begins to wonder if this guy is mentally unstable.
Then a thought occurs to him and his curiously gets the best of his usually quiet self.
"Shouldn't you be wearing a mask? Like...a robber's mask? For you know...the robbing. That you...uh, don't seem to be doing..."
"Huh?" The boy looks at Connor like he's grown two heads. Connor decides not to reply but close his mouth and wait for the criminal to move. Only he doesn't, instead he stays perfectly still, staring at Connor in what seemed to be awe.
"You're not gonna rob me are you." Connor says as more of statement, almost bored as the robber seems to really be struggling. He huffs childishly.
"No." It's a mutter as he looks to the floor, twiddling with the gun in his hands.
"Would you like to buy a coffee then? Five minutes tell closing." Which was a lie, they'd closed ten minutes ago but the boy looked so sad and broken and Connor found sympathy for him. He nods, walking in defeat up to the counter and orders a simple green tea with honey.
"3.75 please." Connor says and the boy hands over a ten.
"Keep the change, for trying to rob you and all." Connor laughs, taking the money and thinking of how it was hardly an attempt.
He takes a seat in the back and Connor sets to work making his tea, only looking up when the boy accidently bangs his head on the window of the shop. Giggling, Connor watches as he rubs his curls, trying not to cry.
When the tea is made Connor brings it to him with a smile, sitting across from him, the gun laying on the table. Connor looks at it wearily.
"It's not even loaded." The boy waves at the gun dismissively and Connor sighs in relief.
"So, what's your name then?" The boy sighs sadly.
"Troye, not that it matters much. I'll be dead when my parents find out I just tried to rob a coffee shop."
"Why did you try in the first place?" Connor asks, genuinely curious.
"This guy, Caspar, dared me to. Said I was a chicken." Connor found himself laughing, Troye looking offended.
"I think robbing this shop isn't your problem, but your friends and maybe your ego." The boy sighs knowingly.
"I know." Silence surrounds them after that's said and Connor tries to think of something to say, but is very inexperienced when it comes to talking to teenage boys who rob coffee shops for attention. "I truly am sorry, err," He reads Connors tag. "Connah." Connor smiles brightly.
"Don't worry about it Tro, there's no cameras here anyway so we can just forget this ever happened." Troyes eyes widen.
"Really?!"
"Sure." He could hug Connor if it wouldn't make things so awkward.
"So, how is the coffee business going?" Troye says, making conversation as he sips his tea.
"The usual. Annoying orders and flirty girls in Ugg boots and college hoodies." Troye laughs.
"Sounds about right. I take it you don't like said flirty girls?"
"Girls aren't my type." He says confidently and Troye smiles.
"Mine either." They stare at each other in comfortable silence as Connor begins to wonder why Troye didn't act out his plans.
"So, if you don't mind me asking, why didn't you rob me like you planned?" Troye seems hesitant but eventually sighs, rubbing his forehead.
"Honestly?"
"Well yes, obviously."
"I wasn't expecting the barista to be so cute. It threw me off my game." Connor blushes profoundly at this, looking to his hands.
"R-really?"
"Yeah." Connor clears his throat.
"Thanks...I guess."
"You're welcome coffee boy."
""Don't call me that."
"You gonna make me?"
"I'll use that gun don't test me Troye." Troye laughs.
"It's not even loaded."
"Ill load it with hate...and coffee beans."
"Ohhh, so scary." Connor sighs melodramatically.
"I'm calling the cops on you."
"You wouldn't!"
"I know."
