f.o.r.e.v.e.r by James Blake is the song Troye wanted to die to. Sadly, the universe had other plans.

As Troye ran the water that he'd lay in for the last time, Connor was 10 minutes away with fear in his otherwise happy eyes. He knew he had limited time to save his best friend, he knew he might be too late.

Troye had turned on his Spotify playlist 'songs that make you feel' and pressed on the fateful song, turning the repeat option on. The song made Troye choke, its melodies sweet and sticky, making his eyes water.

He rested in the hot water, letting the soothing voice fall over him. He decided he'll listen to the song in full one more time before committing to the death.

Connor could see Troyes apartment building, pulling over quickly and jumping out. The bell hop had given him a weird look as he raced up the stairs, the elevator out of service.

Troye heard the last cord and dunked his head, memories of the pain finding him once again. The man's greedy hands, his mother's upset look. Connors sympathy, Connors heart shattering and his smile falling away.

He didn't ask for it, yet it was what he was dealt. His eyes shut and as the water invaded his nose he focused on James's voice.

Meanwhile Connor was banging on his front door trying to get in, telling the manager that Troye was dying right this second! Or, at least he thought by the message Troye had sent.

I'm sorry he touched me, I won't be a burden anymore

Connor wished he moved in sooner, but contracts are put in place for a reason, he supposed. The manager finally unlocked the door and Connor rushed in, hearing the sound of overflowing water and the distant melodies of one of Troyes sad songs.

Troye was almost gone, his head felt as if it were going to explode and it made him smile because it was the least painful hurt he'd felt in a while.

Connor entered the bathroom, seeing Troye there in the tub and he screamed. The song continued on and as Troye finally left earth it sadly wasn't the last thing he heard.

"NO! Please no!"

Connor pulled him up, running his hands in his hair and trying his best to breathe the life back into him. Alas, it didn't work. Troye was gone.

Connor watched as his body sank back into the then cold water, the distant sound of the manager calling the police and the retched song not quite reaching his ears.

His best friend, his biggest source of happiness was gone. He was alone, but at least Troye didn't hurt any longer. At least he'll move on from the pain and the nightmares he got at the expensive of another man.

As Connor watched his best friend's curls float around his head, his lips open and no air escaping, he cried.

He hopes the afterlife treats him as good as he could of in this life, if he hadn't of been too late.
