Chapter 8- An Exception
"You can't always get what you want, but if you're lucky, you get what you need."~ Justin Bieber
I join everyone at our lunch table. I take a seat next to Bruce who winks at me before greeting me hello. This brings everyone's attention to me causing them all to also greet me. I give everyone a 'hello' before sitting down and eating my lunch. I talk to Alexa, who is sitting opposite me, about the English coursework that is due soon.
"He hates me so much Amber. You have no idea." I can't help but chuckle at how much she is exaggerating it.
"He does not hate you Lex. Maybe just dislike, and anyway I swear you text people in his lesson?"
I see her blush but roll her eyes at me. I laugh at her reaction. "Whatever A." I spend the rest of lunch joining in with the group conversation. It is so laid back and easy going. The bell rings signalling the end of lunch. We all get up and leave to go to our lessons before the final bell goes. I grab my bag and sling it over my shoulder before grabbing my tray. I walk towards the exit and slide my tray onto the pile of the other dirty trays. I wait as Bruce copies my actions before walking with him to Religious Studies.
"So, how are you liking LA now that you are settled?"
"I quite like it. I like it very much. It is always so sunny and beautiful and the people here are just so friendly."
"Anybody in particular?"
I turn to face him to see that he has a half smirk on his face. "Maybe." I wink at him.
"Do I know them?"
"Maybe." I chuckle at how limited my answers are.
"Is it a guy?"
"Maybe."
"Is he sexy?"
"Maybe."
"Thank you!"
"What? Who said it was you?"
"I know it's me Amber." he pecks my cheek before entering the classroom. I stand there for a few seconds feeling shocked then embarrassed. I enter the classroom with pink cheeks. As I grab my things from my bag I take a seat. Once all set, I turn to Bruce- who is sitting next to me- and glare, but I am pretty sure he doesn't take is seriously because he is laughing. Jerk. But I can't help the smile that breaks out onto my face.
I unlock my front door and make my way into my home. The smell of paint is still there, faint, but still there. I inhale the smell and smile at the smell of it. I drop by bag at the bottom of the stairs before making my way to the kitchen. I call for my mom again and when I get no response I realise that she must be out. I check for any note she may have left but come up blank. I pour myself a glass of orange juice. I drink it as I continue to scroll through my phone.
"Going to give me some?" I jump at his voice and spill my juice.
"Justin! You scared me!" He chuckles at my reaction and I glare at him.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to."
"What are you even doing in my house? Don't you have any celebrity things to be doing?"
