Chapter 39: Lost

Darren's POV

"Okay ka na ba?" I ask Jade, we're sitting at a swing and two days have passed but she's still gloomy since the bullies hurted her. Buti na lang walang pasok ngayon.

"Yes, Darren. Don't worry, I'm alright." She said and showed me a fake smile.

"No, you're not okay. Look, you showed me your very fake smile."

She looked at me and then she bowed down her head. She's not alright.

"Just tell me if you have problems. I'll help you if I can."

A moment of silence.

Then...

"Thanks Darren." She said and faced me.

"For what?"

"For always being there for me. You always save me from harm. Hindi ko ineexpect na may makikilala akong ganyan na tulad mo. Akala ko, wala nang nag-eexist na ganyan." She said then faked a chuckle.

"It's my pleasure to help you. I know that you're Dad is always busy and walang magpoprotekta sayo. Kaya I volunteer para atleast, you have this kind of protection."

"Thanks. I'm glad to have a friend like you."

"Me too. But, I just wanna ask a question."

"What is that?"

"Do you have an ex-boyfriend? I'm sorry, I'm just that curious."

"It's okay. And you asked me that before. Yes, I have one."

"Yeah, I remember and you almost cry. Is there a problem?"

"Yes."

"What is that? But... if you don't want to remember it, just... don't answer my question. I understand."

"No, I'll tell you. We're friends, right? I trust you Darren."

I smiled and gestured her to continue. I know that I should've not asked her about that matter but... it kills me. I'm just that curious about that guy. Kung sino man siya.

"We we're childhood friends. We play, we fight, we eat together and you know typical childhood friends." She said and I saw her becoming teary-eyed.

"Then, we left. We went to Manila for good. After that, we didn't have any connections to each other. Then after about 4 or 5 years, I saw him. We're just neighbors then. And I discovered that... I have a crush on him.

"We started or I should say, we continued our friendship. And I didn't notice that they already planned something. I was so excited of the fact that, he will court me after all those years we've been friends. Then one day, I decided to say yes."

She wiped off the tear coming down from her eyes. "We were happy that time. Of course I was very very happy, who wouldn't? You're crush just courted you and then after some time, magugulat ka na lang... kayo na pala. I didn't expect to be his girlfriend. He was so sweet, he always give me bouquets of red roses then it is sometimes comes with a chocolate box.

"I told my friends that I have doubts about his actions. Dapat pinaniwalaan ko na lang yung doubts ko. Para di na lang ako nagsisi. Then, pinapakilig niya pa ko sa mga 'I love you' niya. He hugs me, kiss me on my forehead, touch or sometimes hold hands with me. I fell like I'm in heaven that time.

"Then, that time came. Jane, my bestfriend, hear them from the roof top of the school talking about me and a worthless plan. She heared my name there and all about the fake relationship. She told me everything, two or three days after she heared that. I didn't believe her 'cause you know... she loves my boyfriend. I cried and she cried a lot. Sigaw kami ng sigaw, then I tried to ask him kung totoo yun and tumango siya.
