Chapter 40: In Love

Darren's POV

"Kuya, I have a question."

"What is that Lynelle?" I asked her and looked at my phone.

"Do you wove Ate Jade?" My eyebrows met each other. I just looked at her and shrugged. Di ko naman talaga alam e.

"I think you wove hew. You awe just denying." She pouted and played her toys. Sa'n ba niya nakukuha 'yang mga sinasabi niya?

"Lynelle, sa'n mo natutunan 'yang mga sinasabi mo? Mas alam mo pa 'yan kesa sa'ken."

She then looked at me and made a peace sign. Maybe she was influenced by those programs on TV.

"But, Lyn, honestly I don't know if I'm in love with her. Pero may nafefeel ako na kakaiba."

She hugged me after. Then she whispered. "Kuya, I want Ate Jade to be my sistew-in-waw." (sister-in-law)

After she said that, my eyes widened. Sister-in-law? Seriously? We're just 11 years old. Maybe she's just that excited.

"Lyn, bata pa kame. Don't be excited for a wedding, 'cause matagal pa 'yon."

"But Kuya, I want her to be my true Ate." She said and pursed her lips, about to cry.

"Baket? Hindi mo pa ba siya Ate? She treats you like her true younger sister. But Lyn, hindi pwedeng lagi siyang nandito sa bahay, she's not our family member." Ouch, why did I said that?

"But she can sweep hewe. Wike youw fwiends."

"Yes, she can. But Lyn, we're just friends. Not lovers."

My gosh. Ano bang sinasabi ko?

Nicole's POV

"Honey, where are you going?" Mom asked.

"There, at the park. I'm with my friends don't worry." She nods and I hugged her then went away.

I sat down the swing as I arrived at the park. Then I saw a text message.

From: Jade
Niks, are you there na? Paalis na ko.

I just smiled, and replied.

To: Jade
Yeah, and kakarating ko lang. Don't worry, take your time.

Sent.

I swayed the swing and...

"Hey." Someone called. Then I opened my eyes seeing Darren.

"Oh hi. How's the day?"

"It's somehow... fine. Lynelle just asked me something a while ago."

"Lynelle? What did she asked you?"

"It's about... Jade."

"How 'bout that?"

"She asked me if I love Jade. Then I said I don't know. And she suddenly told me that she wants Jade to be her sister-in-law."

Wow.

"Seriously? She can say that?" He nods. "But Darren, mahal mo ba talaga siya? Kasi kung hindi si Lynelle yung unang nagtanong, anong isasagot mo?" I asked while looking at him. He deep sighed.

"I... don't know. Hindi ko kasi alam yung nararamdaman ko. But I treat her as special. Kung napapansin mo, I always save her from danger. Parang kakaiba talaga yung nararamdaman ko 'pag ginagawa ko yun for her. Para bang ang saya ko 'pag natutulungan ko siya. That's how I feel, pero di ko alam kung mahal ko ba siya."
