This chapter is dedicated to greenfrogy, had a fun time with you this week Meggy!

After I had changed into something not so sweaty, I got into Drew’s Toyota, still slightly confused. He didn’t seem to notice my actions though since he just pulled out the driveway of the apartments and then started to drive towards the nearest grocery store without making any signs of wanting to start a conversation.

After fifteen minutes of driving, I banged the back of my head on the seat and groaned in frustration. “I can’t take it anymore!” I practically screamed.

He looked at me for a second with raised eyebrows and then he went back to looking at the road. Drew had always been very cautious about being on the road after his mother and older sister, Dara, had passed away in a car accident when he was sixteen. “What can’t you take anymore?” He questioned.

“Why the heck are we going grocery shopping together Drew?” I wondered, very curious and confused. He looked at me as if he didn’t understand so I gave him a look. “Come on, we’ve known each other since we were ten and you’ve hardly said anything to me in all these years.”

He punched me playfully on the shoulder and then he looked at his fist as if it hurt. “Can’t I just spend some good quality time with my buddy Lucy?!” His voice cracked as he spoke.

“That doesn’t sound like something you’d say Drew and you know that.” I twirled a strand of my hair which was slightly sticky. “The only time you talk to me alone is when you need advice.”

His face flushed and he was quiet. He pulled into the parking lot of the grocery store and got out of his car. I clenched my fists and got out too. I ran up next to him as he went to get a cart. “This is serious, isn’t it?” I was concerned, usually Drew would at least have a little bit of a playful smile on his face, but today he was pulling off a complete poker face.

He bit his lip and shoved his hands into the pocket of his jeans. He motioned for me to take the cart that he had retrieved, which was still rolling on the pavement. I clutched on to the handle bars and went back to looking at Drew’s uncomfortable facial expressions. I put a hand on his shoulder. “Drew, what’s wrong?”

Drew had always been like another brother to me. He was so sweet and caring and not like any other guy that I had ever met. Lucky for me I didn’t have to slap any girl for breaking his heart because I knew for a fact that he had never gone a single date without his friends in his whole life, meaning it was definite that he hadn’t had his first kiss yet.

He looked at me for a brief moment and then he went back to looking ahead. A minivan was pulling out so we moved to the side. As we did I restarted my mouth muscles. “You know, I’m going to force you to tell me.”

He widened his eyes and he gasped dramatically. “You wouldn’t dare!”

I narrowed my eyes at him and nodded my head. “Try me.”

He crossed his arms and grinned. “I’m never going to tell you.”

I gave him a devious smirk and I began poking his shoulder over and over again. “Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me…” I went on and on, even as we entered the grocery store and got food. I didn’t even stop when we were at the cash.

As we left the store, a cart full and my finger starting to hurt from poking so much, Drew finally gave up. “Alright! Fine!” He threw his arms in the air and yelled as he surrendered.

I nodded my head an approval and blew on my finger as if it was a gun. “The master wins again.”

He pouted and then he took the cart from me. “Do I really have to tell you?” He whined.
