My friends brought me to the doctor, where they did an X-ray image of my hand. There wasn’t anything wrong with it besides the fact that it was just slightly swollen. All I had to do was wait for it to heal itself and not to anything to make it worse.

McKinley, Jessie and Jonah had to leave to go work on the tree house though, since the complaints about screaming children were getting worse by the second. Peyton had offered to pick me up, and once she did she had the biggest smile on her face.

“We’re finally alone!” She told me happily as she brought me to her car.

“Why are you so excited about that?” I wondered. “Are you planning on killing me or something, because we just passed some trash cans.”

She laughed and then she shook her head. “No silly, I have to tell you something that no one else knows! I feel that I can only trust you with this secret, so don’t tell anyone.”

I leaned against her car and crossed my arms. “What is it?”

“I met someone!” She squealed, jumping up and down.

My mouth formed a perfect ‘O’ and a picture of Drew immediately crossed my mind. He loved her so much, made it so obvious, and she met someone else?! When I thought about it, Peyton and Drew actually would make a very cute couple, even though I didn’t want to admit it. One loud, one shy, opposites attract, right?

A nervous laugh escaped my lips. “Y-yeah, I just met a doctor and a nurse! We meet people every day, Pey. You, silly, silly girl.” I poked her shoulder, still laughing nervously.

“What’s your problem?” She asked me, raising an eyebrow. “Look, I didn’t just meet a person. I met a guy.” She paused for what seemed like dramatic effect. “I met the guy.”

“No you didn’t!” I blurted out. My cheeks turned bright red from my stupid outburst. “I m-mean, how can you be sure?”

She motioned for me to get in the car. I got shotgun and she clutched on to the steering wheel. “I’m sure he’s the one Lucy, we clicked right away. It’s meant to be, I’m sure of this.”

“When did this happen?” I questioned, clearly curious.

“That day when we all went to the park,” She responded.

“Drew was there?!” I shouted. I realized that my voice had risen, so I calmed myself down a little bit before I said, “I mean, the others were there too?”

“They weren’t exactly there. You know how there’s an ice cream parlor at the park?” When I didn’t respond she went on. “Well, everyone wanted ice cream so I offered to get it for everyone. So I went and the guy standing beside me offered to buy the ice cream and then he called me beautiful and…” She went on and on about this ‘perfect’ guy. I couldn’t help but think of poor Drew who probably thought that Peyton at least liked him back a little bit. Not even close.

“Does he have a name?” I asked her as she took a breath.

“Oh yeah! His name is -get this- my favorite boy name in the world. Zachary, but he asked me to call him Zack.”

I furrowed my eyebrows. “Since when is Zack your favorite boy name?”

She avoided that question. “He’s just completely amazing, I’m sure we’re gonna get married one day and have beautiful little babies.”

I held up my hands. “Whoa there, slow down! You’re only nineteen Pey, no need to rush things! You only just met him.”

“And we’re going on a date tonight,” She told me. “So I need you to come up with a story about why I’m not gonna be there tonight.”
