We only had two more weeks until we were off to college, and all we had to do now was one more thing before we were ready to get back to school.

We had to giveaway the apartment.

We had put it up on the Internet and we got only one offer. Today was the day where we were going to give a tour to our possible future buyer. They were a young couple who were expecting their first baby any day now.

My friends had given me the “honor” of giving them the tour. The doorbell had just rung, meaning that this was go time. The rest of the group was at Lucas and Jared’s place, waiting for me to get this over with.

I opened up the door. This revealed a couple who looked no older than me. The woman was huge, her stomach sticking out, revealing that she’s wasn’t lying when she said she was expecting.

“Hi, I’m Lucy,” I greeted them, extending out my hand so they could shake it.

“I’m Ben,” The guy responded, shaking it. “And this is my fiancée, Lena.”

They had huge smiles on their faces as I led them into the apartment and showed them the living room. I cleared my throat. “Well, this is the living room, which is really fun to hang out in.” I looked at the happy pair. “My friends and I would spend all of our time in here.”

I had to clear my throat again. “Um… well now I’ll show you the bedrooms.” I led them into Jonah’s room, and explained to them the story of how he got it to himself. I then realized I was blabbing so I went into the girl’s room, shared some stories, and then into the boy’s room.

I had to bite my lip to keep myself from telling the story of Christmas morning where we had rolled around in the feathers. I ran a hand through my hair. “This room belonged to my friend Drew and my boyfriend Mason,” I explained.

They nodded their head. I then showed them the kitchen, dining room and the bathrooms. The whole apartment was done… there was only one more thing that I had to present to them.

“Would you please follow me?” I asked them as I made my way towards the balcony. They stood next to me as we looked out to the backyard.

Mandy, Gabby and Tommy were running around as Skipper chased them, trying to get their shoes. I smiled as I saw this. I tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear. “Um, back there is the tree house that my friends and I built for the kids in the apartment.”

“Oh Ben! It’s exactly what we imagined,” Lena gushed as she leaned into him. She looked at me and grinned. “We wanted a tree house for our baby.”

“It’s a real hit with the kids. Sometimes us adults would go in there and hang out as well,” I admitted.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked around the apartment… my friends and I had to leave this place. Sure, we were going to go make a living, but I was surely going to miss the days where it’d just be us in the apartment all together, just hanging out and having fun.

Of course I’d see all my friends all the time still, but it wasn’t like we’d all live together once again. That was quite fun, all of us in the same apartment. We had always known where to find each other. We were closer than we had ever been before in our friendships lifetime. It had been amazing.

“What’s wrong?” Ben asked me once he noticed the tears streaming down my face.

I gulped, making the lump in my throat disappear. “It’s just…” I wiped my eyes and I looked at the couple. I smiled. “You guys are perfect for the apartment. Enjoy it.”

I made my way to my brother and his best friend’s apartment. This is where I found all of my closest friends laughing and chatting.

“Hey guys,” I told them as I shut the front door.

They all turned towards me and they smiled. “Hey!” They greeted.

I sat down on the couch next to Mason. “That couple got the apartment,” I told them, not waiting to get to the point.

Everyone looked at me with a little bit of sadness in their eyes. “So you’re saying it isn’t ours anymore?” Maven asked me.

I nodded my head. “We have to go pack up all of our stuff,” I directed.

They got up and we all made our way towards the door.

“Wait!” Jonah said before we opened the door to the apartment.

“What is it?” Harlow asked him.

He ruffled his hair. “Let’s go hang out in the tree house first.”

We all looked at each other and we smiled. “I like that idea,” I told him.

So that’s what we did, we all walked hand in hand to the tree house. When we got up there, we all sat up in the house made out of wood and we shared laughs, tears and a few stories.

To think that we’d be going to college in just a few days was a little scary, I was ready though and I was sure everyone else was too.

Suddenly we heard someone exclaim, “Cheese!”

We all looked down to the ground and we saw Mandy holding her camera and pointing it as us. We figured she was obviously going to take a picture of us, so all eleven of us put our arms around each other and we smiled.

“I love you guys,” I told my friends.

This surely was a memory to remember. Every moment with my friends was something to remember, because the truth was that there is nothing in the world that can beat friendship. Even if things can seem rough and unstable sometimes, everything will always balance itself out at some point. Bringing everything back to normal.

But with your friends… can you actually be normal?

The flash of Mandy’s camera went and Mason covered his eyes. “AAAH!!! I’m blind!” He screamed dramatically.

I chuckled and under my breath I said, “Didn’t think so.”

Now, I'm sad because the story is ending!
