“Mommy!” My son, Chayten yelled as he ran up to me, a pouty look on his face. “Lason took my shoe!”
I hoisted my youngest child, my one year old daughter Dakota, onto my other hip as I made my way towards Chayten’s twin brother, Lason. Lason was running around with his brother’s shoe. Five year olds could be quite the trouble makers. “Lason, give your brother his shoe back!” I ordered.
Just then, the sound of millions of giggles filled my ears. Harlow and her husband Jared walked into the backyard of my brand new house with their four year old sextuplets all holding hands.
“Hey!” Harlow called out when she saw me looking at her. Her hair was a mess, probably the result of having to take care of so many kids at once.
“Hi!” I replied. I then made my way towards her kids. They all had Jared’s darker skin tone, but Harlow’s eyes and smile, making them completely adorable. I placed my palm on my forehead. “Harlow, honey, you’re going to have to tell me who’s who again!”
She sighed. She always had to tell me which of her kids was which every single time she came to see me with them. She used her index finger to point them out. First she started with her three daughters. “This is Kayley, Petra and Zoë.” She then went on to the boys. “And this is Skylar, Elliot and Jackson.”
I nodded my head and greeted the kids with smiles.
“Hi!” I then heard someone say. I turned around and saw Maven with a huge smile on her face. She looked amazing. She had lost weight and she had a radiant glow on her cheeks.
“Hey Maven!” I looked around. “Where are the boys?”
She chuckled. “With their daddy.”
The fence to my backyard opened up and Jonah came into the backyard. His five year old son Luke on his shoulders, his six year old Jamie holding on to his father’s leg, his two year old son Bradley holding his left hand and his three year old Gabriel on his other leg.
It was quite funny. All four boys looked exactly like their father, but they had their mother’s darker hair color. The Saint-Laurent boys were the biggest trouble makers in the town and everyone knew.
“Help me,” Jonah mouthed out to me. I just giggled and shook my head.
“Where’s the rest of the group?” Mason, my husband for five years now, asked me as he came out of the house with drinks for the children.
I had invited my group of friends and their kids to come over for lunch today. So far we only had around half of our guests.
“Here we are!” I heard someone call out. I looked behind me and I saw Peyton using one hand to hold her big belly that was carrying her baby boy, Carter, which she would be giving birth to in one month. Her other hand was holding her husband Drew’s hand.
“Hey guys!” I said excitedly as I rushed over them.
“Sorry we’re late,” Drew apologized as he handed me a picnic basket that he was holding. “Hope this food will make up for it.”
I took the basket, but I still told him, “You shouldn’t have.”
“Yet we did,” He replied with a grin.
“Aunt Lucy!” I heard a tiny voice call out.
Coming through the fence was my six year old niece, Charlotte, or Charlie as everyone called her. She was the daughter of proud parents Lucas and McKinley, who had gotten married seven years ago.
“Hi Charlie!” I gave her a big hug as she ran into my arms.
Her parents walked through the gate with big smiles. “Hey sis,” My brother greeted me as he gave me a big hug. His wife mimicked his actions.
