Chapter 6- I Can't Just Walk Away, It's Illegal Or Something

For a moment, he just stood there in complete shock, trying to register what was actually happening while I gazed at him with a bored expression and munched on my cookie.

This guy was boring, I'll hand him that, maybe that's why his house was also empty. Everyone was just so bored that they thought they should leave before they die.

Seriously, I have seen no one since I came here accept him. Okay, somehow that sounded soppy. But the house was completely abandoned.

I glanced at the wall clock and saw that it was already 5:45. Gosh, it was almost 6:00 I got to get a move on.

I got off of the couch and shoved the remaining cookie in my mouth, heading towards the front door. I waved over my shoulder, "I'm Jess, enjoy the cookies. Bye."

That seemed to snap him out of his state, because the next thing I know, he was right in front of me. I blinked, surprised. Aw man, was he seriously a Martial Arts master or something? I didn't want to get my butt kicked that's for sure.

He narrowed his eyes at me, and I mimicked his expression. He raised his eyebrows at me, and I did the same.

He gave me an annoyed look, "What're you doing?"

I shrugged, "I don't know, what are you doing?"

He narrowed his eyes at me again, "Answer the question,"

I rolled my eyes at him, "Since the moment I've stepped in this place, that's all that you've been doing. Asking questions,"

"Your point?"

I looked at him flatly, "I'm not in the mood for answering," I tried to step around him, but he blocked my path. I gave him an annoyed look, "Let me pass, I got to get home, you know?"

"Not until you answer my questions," He stated.

I huffed, "Dude, just chill, would you? It's not like I committed a murder in here, why're you acting like an uptight cop?"

"Me? An uptight cop?" He said, incredulously, "You're the one that barged into my house!" He snapped.

"You should've learned how to open the door by now, you just turn the knob. It's that easy," I retorted.

Realization seemed to dawn on his face as he processed what I had just told him, and that made him shut up, finally. He was struggling to think up of something to say, but with his expression, it seemed like he wasn't very successful.

I smiled smugly, "Guess my work here is done," I walked past him, "Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be on my way,"

I finally reached the front door and just when I was about to turn the door knob to regain my freedom, it seemed like luck decided to leave me that very second.

"Um, wait!" He called out.

I groaned and closed my eyes, "Ugh, what now?"

I turned around as he walked up to me, looking kind of... embarrassed? I raised an eyebrow at him, why was he embarrassed now?

He looked up at me and rubbed the back of his neck, "Um, I'm sorry for acting like that... I mean, I should've opened the door when you knocked. That was very rude of me..." He averted his gaze to his shoes.

My confidence faltered at his reaction, was he actually apologizing to... me?

Despite at what I was feeling by all this, I rolled my eyes at him, "Damn right, you should have," But he looked even more guilty so I decided to go easy on the wussy, I waved a dismissive hand at him, "It's okay, dude. Things like this happen all the time, no big."
