Chapter 22- I'm Changing My Middle Name To 'Don't Care'

The walk back to Keith's place wasn't a struggle at all, except I really think that I had enough work-out to last me a whole year. Seriously, now that I think about it, why were we walking anyways? We should've just gotten into a car.

Driving around just a couple of steps? Yup, totally worth it.

I wish I could fly, just flap my arms like a bird and then soar through the air. Those things have it easy, fly anywhere, anytime.

I started to imagine what it would be like if I turned into a bird. I could see it clearly.

I chirped, melodically. Soaring through the air, waving my wings as a greeting to my fellow birds.

I ate bugs, and found a worm, but my 'friend' scratched me on the eye and stole it. I gazed tearfully at my friend, who flew away with the worm I was supposed to eat.

Then, a snake ate me.

I blinked. Okay, so turning into a bird was out of the question, since I was most likely at the bottom of the food chain. I frowned, I thought being a bird would've been cool. Maybe just the flying part.

I snapped out of my thoughts when it occurred to me that we had reached my destination, Keith was just behind me, following. A huge smile spread across my face as I made my way at the back of Keith's house, this was going to be total awesomeness.

"Um, Jess?" Keith called out.

I glanced over my shoulder at him, "What?"

"Why're we at my house?" He asked, skeptically.

I smirked, as I stood in front of the trash can and tapped my finger on the lid, tilting my head, "What do you think?"

His gaze moved to the trash can, then to me, back at the trash can and then he finally settled his gaze on me. I wagged my eyebrows at him, smirking.

His eyes widened as realization dawned on him, "You're kidding me..."

I cackled, quite evilly as I shook my head and took the lid off the trash can, "Nope, I'm pretty serious on this one. Gosh, this is brilliant." I peeked inside it, looking at all the garbage.

"Jess, we're going to search through trash for banana peels?" He asked, incredulously.

I raised an eyebrow at him, "Where else do you expect for us to get them?" He opened his mouth to answer, but I held up a finger, "Wait, we could've gotten them if we tried eating bananas... but someone decided that it was better to whine about it,"

I got him there, I could see it on his face, "Well, that was a stupid suggestion too."

I shrugged, turning to peer at the garbage, "I wasn't the one to add that on the list,"

He sighed, and came up to stand next to me, peering at the trash, "Ugh, that looks seriously nasty. I think there might be roaches in there,"

I shrugged, "Hm, maybe." I looked at him.

He swallowed nervously, "I-I hate roaches,"

I raised an eyebrow at him, "No joke?"

He shook his head, "No, I seriously don't like roaches,"

This was just gold.

I nodded, "That's cool, I guess that's... oh my God! A roach!" I shrieked, pointing randomly at something in the trash.
