Chapter 11- Dodging The Situations Seems To Be My Speciality
"Bye, Kevin. We'll see you soon," Tara waved at him, pulling the surgical mask over the half of her face.
He smiled and waved back at her, "I'll see you later, Tara," Then he looked at me and gave me a nod, "Jess,"
I smirked, "Later, Gal," I pulled the mask back on.
His jaw clenched, "My name is Kevin,"
We walked towards the door and Tara stepped outside, while I turned around for the last time and said, "And my name's Jess, what else is new?" I snickered as I watched his annoyed expression and left the room, giving him no chance to speak.
Gal's parents and Francine were there, their attention snapped towards us as they saw us approaching them.
"So? Is he okay?" Francine asked.
I waved a dismissive hand at them all as I walked past them, Tara behind me, "False alarm, our apologies."
I had a feeling that we were going to be caught anytime soon, so we quickly rushed away. We reached the main area and headed towards the empty check-up room.
I glanced around me to see if anyone was looking before going inside and closing the door behind us. We took off the equipment we had borrowed and carefully placed them back where we had found them.
After everything was back in its place, we quickly exited the room and stepped outside the hospital, waiting for Claire.
Tara breathed out a sigh in relief, as the cool evening air hit us. I rolled my eyes at her, she was seriously so melodramatic.
"I'm so glad we made it out alive," She breathed out, "That was way too risky, I'm never doing that again,"
I snorted, "Seeing that you're friends with me, I can't promise you that we'll not be doing anything like that anytime soon,"
She just shook her head, "I feel like I've made a really big mistake,"
I smiled at her in amusement, "A mistake that you aren't regretting at all, I'm sure of it,"
She fiddled with her fingers, "Well... I guess it wasn't that bad,"
I smiled in triumph, "See? I so knew it,"
She laughed lightly, and that's when Claire pulled up in front of us, honking the horn, "Come on, girls, time to go home,"
We got in the car and Claire drove off, I was exhausted by the day's events. But it was good to know that everything turned out fine.
"So, how was Kevin? Is he okay?" Claire asked, concerned.
"Yeah, he was fine. He's got a cast on his left arm, though," Tara replied.
"Poor child. How long does he have to keep that cast on?"
That's when the car went silent, Tar and I threw each other nervous glances. We had snuck into the hospital, and we didn't ask Gal how long his cast would stay on. Gosh, we're so stupid.
We went to see someone who was injured, and didn't bother asking him of his condition? Well, I just wanted to apologize, Tara was the one who was actually concerned for his life. She should've asked him that.
Aw man, we're so screwed.
"Well, girls? What did the doctor say?" Claire asked impatiently.
Tara gaped like a fish, so I decided to rescue the both of us.
