Chapter 18- Never Fear When I'm Here
"Tar, Tar! Where are you?" I called out as soon as I was near Keith's place.
"Jess, hurry! I'm over here!" Tar's frantic voice called back, and I quickly ran in that direction.
"What happened? What's going on?" Gal asked, trying to keep up with me.
"Tar's stuck," I replied, surveying the neighborhood for any signs of Tar.
"Stuck? What do you mean?" He asked, curiosity seeping in his tone.
I didn't bother answering him as I called out for Tar again, "Where are you, Tar? Keep screaming!"
"Over here!" Her voice sounded close.
I dashed to the side of Keith's house and instantly spotted Tar, the sight of her made me freeze in my tracks as Gal and Francine fell in step beside me, panting. We stood in silence as we took in the sight in front of us.
Only then I knew what she meant by 'stuck'. I stared at her with a dumbfounded expression, how in the world did she land herself in there?
She was in the trash can, only her arms and legs were dangling out. Her whole body was inside it. The question came back to me again, how did she get stuck in there?
I face-palmed and walked over to the trash can, peeking inside, I saw Tar look at me and grin sheepishly, "Hey..."
I face-palmed again as Gal and Francine came over, and gazed down at Tar with surprised expressions.
I placed my hands on my waist and looked down at Tar, giving her an exasperated look, "How are we going to get you out of there, Tar?"
She smiled nervously, "You could try pulling me?"
I rolled my eyes and gripped her wrists, "France, grab her legs, this is going to take more than one person," Francine nodded and gripped Tar's legs.
We were about to pull when Gal stopped us, "Let me help,"
I raised an eyebrow at him, "What are you going to do? Cheer us on?"
He glared at me, "No, I was actually going to help you guys pull her out."
I rolled my eyes at him, "Unless your the man of steel, you aren't much use with that one arm of yours,"
He struggled to say something but then sighed in defeat, "There must be something I could do,"
"You can be our cheerleader," He glared at me, but didn't say anything as I looked at Francine and nodded, "On the count of three, okay?" She nodded, "Ready Tar?" Tar gave us a grin.
"Okay, one," I gripped her wrists tightly, "Two..." I prepared myself, "And, three!" We started yanking on Tar's arms and legs, the trash can shook with all the pulling. I think it was actually working.
But that was until Tar started hissing, "Ow, ow, ow! Okay, stop!"
I huffed and stopped pulling, placing my hands on my waist, "What do you expect us to do, Tar? There's no other choice!"
She was seriously stuck, the other way to get her out of there was to cut the trash can open, how was I supposed to do that?
Her eyes watered and her lower lip started quivering, "Please, get me out of here. It hurts!"
"Well, it was your fault in the first place!" I quipped.
"Do something!"
I threw my hands up in frustration, "I don't know what to do!"
