I'm fine thank you.
That was Regina's answer everytime Emma asked her if she was okay.
That was a lie.
She acted like she didn't care that Emma had a new girlfriend, in a girl called Lily, who used to be Emma's best friend back when they were teenagers.
But she did care.
She acted like she had everything she wanted. Like she had everything she would need in life.
She didn't.
Everytime she saw the young couple, walking hand in hand. Smiling and laughing. She felt her heartbreak. She had never felt this pain before and she didn't like it.
When Emma asked her if she was fine she wanted to snap at Emma. Tell her how she deserved better than Lily. How she had been there when Lily wasn't. When Emma and Lily had, had a fight how she was the one Emma ran to for comfort. She wanted to pull Emma close and feel her soft lips against her own.
All she wanted and needed in her life, was that beautiful blonde.
Emma Swan.
And that's who was on her mind 24/7.
A stupid, leather jacket wearing, driver of a stupid yellow car.She could never be mad at Emma. She could never hate Emma. She could only smile at the thought of her.
That's good. But I'm not fine. Please help me.
That is what Emma thought everytime Regina would say she's fine.
Little did she know that was a lie.
Emma acted like she was madly in love with Lily. Like nothing else mattered in the world except her. That she wanted to spend the rest of her life with her childhood best friend.
That was a lie.
She spoke highly of Lily. Like they were soulmates. Like they were meant to be. Like this would be the person she would marry.
She didn't want that.
If you love someone, you don't hurt them. You don't cheat on them time and time again. Sure Emma could leave, but she was scared. Not because she was scared that she would ruin their friendship, but because of the things Lily does to her.
Nobody sees the bruises. Nobody hears the whimpers. Nobody sees the smashed glass and blood. Nobody sees the scars. Nobody can help.
At night Emma lies awake. Thinking of the dark haired woman. Her smile. Her beautiful eyes, and how one day she wishes Regina would save her.
She dreams about her life with Regina. Their little boy.
We'll call him Henry.
She smiled to herself.
Regina lies awake one night. She had a bad feeling about something. She instantly thought of Emma. Quickly putting on some black leggings and the first shirt she sees, she slips her feet into her rare pair of sneakers and makes her way to Emma and Lily's home.
The light is on.
She knocks on the door and waits a few minutes.
No answer.
She goes to knock again but she hears a cry of pain. Sensing Emma is in danger she grabs a rock and throws it through the window, shattering it. She quickly makes her way inside and sees the blood on the floor.
She slowly follows the trail of blood and sees Lily standing over Emma with a knife in her hand.
"Stupid bitch. I didn't want to do this. I love you! You made me do this!" Lily spat.
Regina felt anger rush through her body and she ran at Lily and tackled her. They wrestled on the floor. Regina getting a few good punches in, Lily does too.
Lily rolls over and pins Regina to the floor, a crazy look in her eyes as she reaches for the knife. She presses it against Regina's neck and smiles.
Regina shuts her eyes, but quickly opens them as the weight of Lily's body has been lifted. She sees Emma kicking Lily's body. The tears flowing from her eyes.
Regina quickly stands up and wraps her arms around Emma, the young blonde cries harder as she slowly sinks to the floor, Regina doesn't let go of Emma and follows her to the floor.
"It's over Emma. I'm here. I've got you. I'm never leaving you. I've got you forever. You're safe. She won't hurt you again. I love you." She whispered.
And that was the truth.
