They had been best friends since they were children, which angered Queen Cora. Especially as they grew older and grew closer. She forbidded her daughter to see Emma but what she didn't know was that she still saw her. Nothing would stop her.

"Mother, I don't see the problem." Regina sighed as she sat down in front of her mirror.

"Those people are not to be trusted Dear, they're nothing but filthy pesents. She is using you. She will steal from you. Her family will steal from you."

"No she won't. You don't know them like I do, you never tried to know them. You're a selfish bitter woman."

Cora didn't hesitate to slap her daughter hard across her face.

"How dare you speak to me like that. Your own Mother. The Queen of this kingdom."

"You don't act like my Mother. I hate you." Regina growled before running out of the room and running out of the castle, ignoring her Mother's pleas to come back. Ignoring the guards when they asked if she was alright.

She ran to the person she knew would make her feel better. She was only five minutes away. As she ran, she felt herself become free.

She finally stood up to her Mother.

"En garde little knight."

She smiled as she heard her favorite sound. Emma's voice.

She turned a corner and saw Emma playing with her younger brother.

"Sir Neal you shall kneel before me."

"Never Bandit Emma. You shall bow to me." He said in a deep voice as he raised his stick and went to hit Emma who parried quickly.

"Go for her legs Neal." Regina called.

"Princess Regina." He smiled. He dropped his stick and ran straight for her.

She knelt down, opening her arms and welcomed the little boy in a hug.

"What brings you here Princess?" Emma asked walking towards them.

Regina released Neal who ran into his home, probably telling his parents she was here.

"I don't want to be a Princess...I've had enough. I stood up to my Mother and she-

"Slapped you." Emma said quietly as she brought her hand up and stroked Regina's cheek.

"I must leave this kingdom, if she knew I was seeing you she would harm your family and I don't want that. I care about you alot Miss Swan."

"Emma. And I care about you too...Please don't leave the kingdom. You're my best friend."

"What if I want to be more but I cannot have that because of who I am."

Emma's eyes softened and she quickly wrapped her arms around Regina's waist and captured her bottom lip in a soft, gentle kiss.

"Don't let your title of Princess stop you from being who you want to be with or getting what you want. You need to take. You can take. I saved enough money for my family to leave this horrid place. I have saved food for the long journey to wherever we may go."

"So you were going to leave without saying goodbye?" Regina asked hurt.

"No." Emma shook her head. She took a step back, reaching into her pocket she got down on her knee which caused Regina to gasp. "I was going to ask if you'd come with me...I know you want to leave now so I hope the answer is yes. This isn't a marriage proposal...This is me. Giving my all to you. A promise ring, that if you'd let me then...I would protect you. Love you. Make you happy."

"What are you saying..?"

"I have feelings for you, obviously...Would you allow me to court you?"

"You don't have to use such fancy ways of saying this." Regina chuckled. "Yes, I would love to date you."

Emma stood up, placing the ring on Regina's finger before kissing her once more.

"So ready for an adventure?" Emma asked holding her hand out.

"No more secrets, no more sneaking around? Just you, me and your family?"

Emma nodded once.

"Then yes, I'm ready for any adventure with you my love."
