Emma layed on her bed, smiling at the memories in her mind. Regina had just moved to Storybrooke and the first person she met and befriended was Emma. Emma even got her a job at the same place she worked. A sale's assistant at Mr Gold's Pawn Shop.
She couldn't stop smiling as she relived the moments where they started to get to know eachother and when Regina told her she would be going to Storybrooke High, Emma for the first time in her life, squealed for they would be at the same school.
"Hey!" Regina grinned as she placed her hands on Emma's shoulders and jumped up.
It was the first time Regina had seen her around school and she was really happy to see her friend and hang out for a while.
"Hey." Emma replied as she continued to walk to the sports hall, not taking her eyes off of Regina for a minute as she listened to the slightly older girl talk about her first day so far.
Emma laughed as she remembered the first school sporting event they went to together. It was a basketball game and Regina was getting into it.
"Woo!" She cheered, standing up and clapping her hands as the game began.
Emma quickly looked up at her, shocked at her actions, but she soon smiled as she watched Regina's eyes light up as their team scored.
Emma's laughter stopped as she remembered the first time she truely started to develop feelings for Regina.
It was a school dance, nobody was dancing just talking. Emma was dressed up in a suit and tie. She hated dresses. She looked across the room to see Regina stood there wearing an knee length lavender dress.
Emma stood up slowly and began to walk towards Regina, Regina met her half way and as a slow song began to play, Emma wrapped her arms around Regina's waist and Regina wrapped her arms around Emma's waist. They slow danced, never taking their eyes off of eachother. As Emma stared into Regina's brown eyes she felt herself slowly falling. As did Regina for when the song stopped, she leaned in and captured Emma's lips in a slow and gentle kiss.
And that's where it all ended.
The days after, Regina changed. She slowly changed into a bitch. Snapping at everyone for no reason, pushing Emma away. Nobody knew why...Until..
"Emma."
Emma turned around to see Regina parents walking towards her with tears in their eyes. "Regina's dead." Cora said bluntly.
"What?" Emm gasped.
"She killed herself." Henry said sadly.
"She wanted you to have this." Cora handed her a sealed envelope.
Emma sat up and looked at her desk, the envolpe sat there unopened. She didn't want to open it, she couldn't open it. She was scared. Three months had passed and she was still scared to know the truth.
She felt a chill run down her spine, making her feel the urge to open it, so that's what she did. She quickly jumped off of her bed and walked towards her desk. She picked the envelope up and gently dragged her fingers over her name that was written in Regina's hand writing. Letting out a shaky breath she ripped it open and began to read.

Emma Swan, you had changed my life completely the day we met. You had done something nobody had done in a long time and that was putting a smile on my face. Making me laugh. Making me feel loved and wanted. The night we kissed at the school dance, it felt right. You didn't do anything wrong, it was all me. I should have fought for what I wanted and I wanted you.
I told my parents how I felt about you and they banned me from seeing you. You wouldn't leave me alone, I didn't want you to but they threatened me. Said we'd move away and I couldn't deal with never seeing you again so I listened to them.
Things got harder.
Kathryn left me, insisted there was something going on between me and Jim..Her boyfriend when there wasn't. Then Killian...I liked him, before I liked you but he took pictures of my cleavage and under my skirt without me knowing and showed them to all of his friends...Then Robin...At one of his parties he raped me.
Emma stopped reading and wiped her eyes. How could she not have seen the signs that she was hurt? She looked down to see the words "He raped me" had been smudged and she realised Regina had cried as she wrote it.
All I wanted to do was run into your arms. Tell you what happend because I felt like I could only open up to you but I couldn't. I felt like I couldn't talk to anyone and everything got to me. I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough.
I love you Emma Swan. I have for a long time and even though I'm now gone I'll still love you.

Emma gently placed the letter down before making her way over to her bed and sitting down. She saw Regina's smile in her head. Her eyes. The happy memories flooded her mind and she broke down.
Her body shook uncontrollably as the tears fell from her eyes, all she wanted was to go back to the moment she met Regina and this time protect her. Fight for her and fight for them.
"I love you Regina." Emma cried.
But it was no use, Regina was gone and she couldn't love someone back to life no matter how much she wanted to.
