2: i'll go
"Lana!" I heard someone yell, causing me to groan as I rolled over in my bed in hopes they would stop. "Lana, get up!"
"What?" I yelled back, my attitude most likely needing adjusting.
"Come down here!" My mother yelled, causing another groan to leave my lips. It was finally summer and I couldn't even properly sleep in. I looked over at my clock and my furrowed eyebrows relaxed.
It was already one in the afternoon.
As quickly as I could, I tried to look like I hadn't been sleeping. I would make up the excuse that I had headphones on, because sleeping until one? I barely ever did that.
I rushed out of my room and skipped down the stairs, bumping into Luke and Amie on my way down.
"Have you been sleeping?" Amie asked, her eyebrows furrowed.
"No," I croaked, forgetting that my voice was always gone in the morning. "I had music on..."
"Okay, yeah," Luke said, rolling his eyes at me. I rolled mine back and bumped my shoulder into his as I walked away.
"Shit," I mumbled, rubbing my shoulder as it began to ache.
"That hurt you worse than it hurt me!" Luke yelled and I groaned quietly. I walked into the living room to see my mom sitting down on the couch.
"You called?"
"Oh, your father needs someone to go out and run a couple errands... I'm sure you would rather not, but I thought you could go out and get some driving experience. I hate for you to go alone, but Amie and I have some stuff to do. You hardly ever take the car out and I wouldn't want you to lose any of the driving skills you have." I nodded and brought my hands up to my face before rubbing my eyes.
"I'll go." Luke's voice interrupted my thoughts and I turned around. "With her, I mean. Since you and Amie have plans, I wouldn't want to be an awkward third wheel." Mom smiled up at Luke as if he was a god and I began to think she was in love with him, too.
Okay, of course I wasn't in love with Luke. I just liked the idea of him being around and being interested in speaking to me, so I liked him... a little.
"Are you sure, Luke?" Mom asked and he nodded, smiling.
"If I don't spend some time with this one, how am I ever going to find out the dark secrets of this family?" Luke asked, with his arms crossed, which caused my mother to giggle. "As long as Lana's okay with me going, of course."
"No, yeah, that's fine. As long as Amie doesn't care," I said and Luke looked over at me.
"Amie suggested it," Luke said with a shrug. "Whenever you're ready, I am."
"Go get ready, Lana. Don't make Luke wait too long."
"I have to shower, but I'll make it quick," I told Luke as we started up the stairs.
"You don't have to rush, we have all day," he told me and I looked over at him, nodding slowly.
"I'm still going to be quick." I shrugged and he laughed before shrugging as well.
"Whatever," he stated, parting from me as he got to my sister's room. "Just knock when you're ready."
"Okay," I told him and walked the rest of the way to my room. When I stepped in, I immediately closed the door—my eyes widened as I leaned my back against the wood. "Shit."
