30: for fuck's sake, get a room
After having a great dinner, and taking a couple hours of the evening to get to know each other, we were finally ready to leave. Calum, Michael, and Ashton really wanted to hang out with Luke, so they were in the process of begging him to go have a night out with them.
"Guys, we're still really tired. How about we go tomorrow night? We could all go to Ash's and do something, but tonight just isn't all that convenient," Luke told the guys as I stood by him awkwardly, trying my hardest not to let my head fall against his shoulder even though I wanted it to so badly. I was exhausted.
"Okay, okay," Calum sighed as he agreed to hang out tomorrow.
"Yeah, I guess that's fine," Ashton said, nodding. "It's so good to see you, buddy." Ashton stepped forward to give Luke a hug and, soon enough, they were all taking turns talking to Luke and giving him hugs.
"Oh, guys, I also want to warn you that Lana's birthday is on Tuesday," Luke told them and my eyebrows furrowed. I had completely forgotten about my birthday. "So, I don't know what we'll do, but she is a really long way away from home and I want to do something for her."
"Luke, don't be silly. I never do anything for my birthday. I usually go to the diner with Nat, it's never a big deal."
"Well, we can change that," Calum said as he shrugged his shoulders. "How old will you be, Lana?" Calum asked and I sighed lightly before answering.
"Eighteen," I told him, clasping my hands together as I looked up at him.
"Seventeen is probably the best year of your life, I bet you're sad about getting older," Michael said and I shook my head as I thought back on my year.
"Seventeen sucked," I said. "I can't wait to be eighteen."
"Well, to make up for the awful year, we'll throw you a really big party," Michael said.
"Don't, there's no need." I looked up at Luke, and he was smiling at me. "Seriously—"
"Lana, you'll love whatever you get, okay?" Luke said and I rolled my eyes. "Don't give me an attitude."
"You're annoying and I'm tired, so let's go," I whined and Luke chuckled.
"I guess that's our cue," Luke said, looking over at the guys. "Seven tomorrow?" All the guys nodded and eventually began to say their goodbyes.
"Wait, Cal, could you give us a ride? I don't want to pay for a cab," Luke yelled, causing Calum to turn around.
"Sorry, I'll charge you," Calum told him and Luke rolled his eyes before walking toward Calum. Dustin and I followed and we piled into Calum's car as we walked to it. Dustin and I got into the back and I immediately looked out the window as the car started to move. "You guys could seriously stay with Ashton or me," Calum told Luke. "I might only have two spare rooms, but I wouldn't ask any questions..." Luke smacked Calum's shoulder and Calum laughed. "I guess the other boys would get suspicious. You ever going to tell them?"
"Yes, Cal," Luke said, distastefully. "Just give me a little while, okay? It's not exactly easy."
"Yeah, I know it's not. You guys are really good at hiding it," Calum told Luke and I looked ahead at them, crossing my arms. "Does Amie know?"
"Apparently," Luke said, sighing lightly. "She implied that she did. To Lana."
"Oh, shit. Aren't you terrified? Don't go back," Calum told him and Luke laughed loudly. "I'm serious, Luke, she might kill you."
