12: pals with perquisites
"Could I sit up front with Nate?" Amie asked and I looked over at Luke for a reaction, but he didn't seem to have much of one at all. I shrugged, not really caring and not really knowing if she was asking me.
"I guess I can deal with Lana in the backseat," Luke replied, looking down at his feet as he walked. I rolled my eyes and made a mental note to get him back for that one. I looked over at Nat and he was looking straight at me, his face blank, as if he had just forgotten something really important.
"As long as you don't distract me from driving," Nat commented and Amie laughed, taking that as an okay. We all continued walking to the car and got in. Luke squeezed into the back with me and we sat fairly close to one another.
Amie took a full two minutes to get situated in her seat and adjusted it at least ten times before becoming content. She had always had the habit of doing that when getting into a car, and it was awful to sit behind her. That was definitely one thing I didn't miss about Amie being home.
Not that I really missed all that much.
I pulled my phone out to check the time and Luke quickly grabbed my phone, snatching it from my hands. I immediately tried to reach for it and get it back, but Luke blocked my hands. He unlocked it easily, considering I had taken off my passcode, and went to my contacts. He added a number, which I figured was his and sent the number a message from my phone.
He handed me my phone with a smug look on his face and I rolled my eyes, taking it out of his hands slightly aggressively. He chuckled quietly to himself and I crossed my arms.
Nat and Amie had already started a conversation, leaving Luke and I completely out, and as we finally pulled out of the driveway, they were already laughing about something.
I couldn't believe Nat liked Amie, that was absolutely insane. Nat would never like Amie, that's so—
My thoughts became a blur as my phone buzzed in my hands and I slowly looked down at my phone to see I had a text.
From Luke:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAI furrowed my eyebrows and looked over at Luke who looked slightly crazed and I began to quietly laugh to myself, wondering what was up with him.
From Luke:
did you like my impression of amie and nate?I rolled my eyes and asked myself why Luke was so strange.
So strange, yet so damn cute.
To Luke:
yeah, luke... it was a great impression... thanks for sharing!I looked over at Luke to see him rolling his eyes with a smile on his face as he read my text.
From Luke:
why can i hear your voice when i read your texts?I couldn't believe Luke was actually making us text when we were a foot away from each other, it was so annoying. My phone buzzed again and I slowly sighed, wondering if we were going to text the entire way to town.
From Luke:
I meant it when I said you looked lovelyMy annoyed mood slowly wore away as I read the text and I smiled widely, having no doubt that my cheeks were becoming pink. I looked up at Luke to see him smirking to himself, but he looked over at me and gave me a smile.
To Luke:
thanks...... pal xI smirked back at him and laughed to myself as I saw his reaction to my text. His smile completely faded and he pretended to gasp.
