14: i more than kind of like you
Luke and I both decided we were hungry, so before deciding to do anything, we went to the kitchen. I jumped up onto the counter as Luke looked in the fridge and named off suggestions.
"I could make pasta of some kind," Luke said with his entire head in the fridge. I scrunched up my nose and shook my head, not in the mood for Italian food. He looked at me and as he saw my reaction, he sighed. "What do you want then?"
"I don't know, what do you want?"
"I don't know," he told me indecisively. "Your nose looks cute all scrunched up like that." I sighed quietly and looked across the kitchen at the rest of the cabinets and various trinkets lined up on the counter. "What's on your mind?" Luke asked after shutting the door to the fridge.
"Nothing," I dismissed, not really wanting to talk about anything that was currently on my mind.
"Oh, come on, Lana. What are you thinking about?" Luke moved toward me and leaned back against the counter I was sitting on just beside me.
"I'm thinking about how..." I looked over at Luke to see his blue eyes and found myself forgetting my words. "How..."
"What?"
"We shouldn't have kissed and how... we shouldn't be thinking of each other any differently than we did before a week ago."
"I didn't even know you a week ago," Luke commented and I slowly looked down, hoping he'd realize he had made my point. "Lana..."
"Luke, it's not that I regret kissing you or even regret thinking about kissing you many more times, I just know it's not right." I crossed my arms and thought to myself for a couple minutes before Luke decided to say anything.
"I know it's not right, Lana." Luke pushed himself away from the counter and stood directly in front of me with his hands on either side of my legs. My legs were criss-crossed on the counter and it enabled his face to be right in front of mine. "But I don't care about that, to be frank. I'm not really sure what's come over me, but ever since I've met you, I've felt a lot different, Lana. And I really like that different feeling."
"But Luke..."
"I know I'm dating Amie, I know this is possibly one of the worst things a guy can do... especially since you guys are sisters—but I really don't give a fuck, Lana. I'd rather be holding your hand or watching movies with so you could fall asleep while laying down with me... and I'd rather kiss you goodbye. Well, I'd rather not kiss you goodbye because that means you'd be going somewhere and I don't want you to leave—" I cut Luke off by grabbing him by the cheeks and pressing my lips to his. I could barely comprehend his words and I didn't know why he'd ever want anything to do with me, but apparently he did. And that made me feel special.
Luke kissed back immediately and trailed his hands down to my waist. I slowly uncrossed my legs while trying not kick him in any area, and once I had successfully done so, I let them rest on either side of him. He pulled me closer to the edge and continued to kiss me, leaving no space in between us.
I thought I heard a door open, but I didn't think much of it. I was probably hearing things like I always do, so I didn't break away from Luke. Besides, why would anyone come home?
"Luke!" I heard Amie yell and nearly had a heart attack. I pushed Luke away from me and looked toward the kitchen entrance, thinking I was going to see Amie standing there in awe, but thankfully she wasn't. She had screamed from the other room.
"Yeah?" Luke said, walking toward the doorway. Amie walked in and I immediately recrossed my legs and played with something beside of me.
"What're you guys doing?" Amie asked, nonchalantly as she saw me.
