I woke up slowly, feeling chilled

I woke up slowly, feeling chilled. I hadn't turned down the air before going to sleep, mostly forgetting it was something I had to worry about since I had been gone. Wanting some warmth, I turned around and tried to snuggle into Luke's chest, but only fell into an empty space beside of me.

I opened my eyes and as I looked at the barren bed, I let out a sigh and rolled onto my back, frowning up at the ceiling.

The night before had gone really well, and I had a really good time with the boys and my parents. We all stayed up and watched movies. My parents wanted to get to know Calum and Dustin as well as they could, for some reason, and I personally thought they had done a great job of doing so. They talked their ears off all night long.

I looked over at my nightstand, at my clock and saw that it was only seven in the morning. I groaned quietly and rolled onto my side, hoping I could get some more sleep. As I closed my eyes, I began to think of Luke and quickly realized I wouldn't be getting anymore sleep. Instead, I thought of a plan.

I quietly got out of my bed and walked over to my dresser. Since I was so cold, I decided to change into a pair of leggings. Once I was done changing, I grabbed my phone and started walking toward my door. I tried to be as silent as I could once I got into the hallway. I made my way downstairs and took a right, going back into the guest portion of our house. I walked past the family room, and into the hallway with all the bedrooms.

I remembered which room Luke had chosen, and slowly opened his bedroom door, being as quiet as possible. I closed it behind me and tiptoed over to his bed. He was sound asleep and I figured not even jumping on the bed could wake him. But I crawled into bed beside him and as I was starting to get under the blanket, he stirred.

"Hmm?" Luke's head shot up and I gasped, not expecting him to be so easily woken up.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Go back to sleep, I was just—"

"Oh, it's you." Luke's head fell back against the pillows and he yawned quietly before pulling me closer to him. I giggled quietly as he did so and he made a pleasant humming noise. "Miss me?"

"Yes," I told him, honestly. He laughed and opened his eyes hesitantly, blinking the sleep out of them. "Go back to sleep, babe... it's early."

"I didn't sleep well without you," he told me and I smiled widely at his words. "I'm glad you came down here, because I really need to get some sleep." My eyes rolled, but Luke chuckled and buried his head into the side of my neck. He kissed my neck softly and I started to play with his hair.

It didn't take long for me to realize that Luke had fallen back to sleep, but I didn't mind. I continued to play with his hair until my arms got tired and my eyes felt heavy.

. . .

"I wasn't expecting to see you, if I'm being honest," I heard Luke whispering as I slowly woke up, but wasn't completely aware as to why or to whom.
