27: um, right side of the bed or left?

For the next few days, everything was hectic. Getting ready to go to Australia for a week and a couple of days was nothing like I had ever prepared for. Thankfully my passport was still valid for a couple of months because otherwise, I would not have been able to go.

I hadn't talked to Luke much lately, mostly because everyone was always home and we couldn't talk more than just small talk. We had been texting a little, but all I could think about was being able to talk to him in Australia with no difficulties.

We were leaving in two days, and our flight was at six in the morning. I was already dreading waking up so early, and I shouldn't even have been worrying about it yet. I had called Ruby, to tell her the news, and we decided to meet up. We didn't plan on staying out too long, just long enough for me to update her on things.

"Okay, I'll be back in a couple of hours," I told my mom as I walked down the stairs and into the living room where she was sitting.

"Oh, is Ruby here?" I nodded and slung my purse onto my shoulder. "Okay, I'll see you in a little bit. Do you need me to do any laundry or anything to help you pack?"

"No, I'm pretty much packed. Thanks though." I smiled over at her and waved as I opened the door. I walked out and smiled widely as I saw Ruby's car. I walked toward it and noticed the windows were open, so I peeked in and smiled at Ruby. "Hey."

"Hi," Ruby smiled. I got in and began to buckle my seat belt.

"Lana!" I furrowed my eyebrows and looked out the window, seeing Luke run out the door.

"Who is that?" Ruby asked and I smiled widely as he walked to the car.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. Uh—our flight got cancelled because the airline sucks, but there's a flight that leaves really late tonight. Would you want to go then, or wait?"

"Oh, uh—" I glanced over at Ruby to see her mouth agape and laughed quietly. "I guess that's fine with me. What time does it leave?"

"9:40 tonight," Luke told me, smiling at me, which made me slightly suspicious of something.

"I guess that's fine, just make sure my mom doesn't care. I think I'm all packed, and if not I'll just cram pack when I get back. Also, Ruby, this is Luke. Luke, this is my friend Ruby."

"Hey," Luke smiled as he looked past me and at her.

"Hey," Ruby replied.

"I'll see you later, okay? I was thinking maybe we could leave a little earlier than we would so you would have a chance to meet Dustin before you're stuck with him for a week."

"We'll figure it out when I get back," I told him and he nodded as he smiled and took a step back from the window. "See you later, Luke."

Luke waved and Ruby took off, leaving my driveway fairly quickly. I looked over at her and her eyes were widened slightly.

"What?" I asked her, wondering why she was acting so strangely.

"He's beautiful, Lana." I laughed loudly and threw my head back against the headrest. "That's your guy? That's him?"

"I had a similar reaction when I met him," I laughed, thinking back to the first time I met him.

"Lana, he's so into you. I've never gotten better vibes from a guy in my entire life. He was so smiley around you and genuinely interested, I just... how?"

"Ruby, he wasn't even acting into me."

"Lana, being into someone isn't something you can turn off. You can't act like you're not into someone, it just doesn't work," Ruby told me. "God, he's like the alpha male of the blond haired, blue eyed type. Hitler would have loved—"
