36: i think you're just fucking whipped
I woke up with a sore throat and no arms wrapped around me. I lifted my head to peer over my shoulder, and was surprised when I saw an empty bed. Luke was nowhere to be seen and it startled me. I sat up entirely and rubbed my eyes as I tried to wake myself up.The alarm clock told me it was getting close to eight in the morning, and I only became more confused.
Where could Luke be at 7:47 am?
I pushed the comforter off of my body and coughed as I remember my throat ached. Coughing only caused me to grimace and I pouted.
I just turned eighteen and I'm already dying of old age.
I walked over to my suitcase after getting out of bed and grabbed the sweatshirt of Luke's I had worn yesterday morning. I slipped it over my head and walked toward the bedroom door. I realized it was cracked open and immediately got goosebumps. Luke must've gotten up early.
I opened the door all the way and peeked into the hall before taking a step forward. Calum's place was eerily quiet and dim, and it made me all sorts of uneasy. I slowly stepped into the hall and began walking to the living room. Michael was still passed out on the couch, and as I walked in further, I saw Ashton asleep on the other couch.
They were both in awkward positions on the sofas, and it caused me to laugh. Thinking I would see Luke in the living room, I started to think of where else he could be. I took a turn and started walking into the kitchen. It didn't take me long at all to realize Luke wasn't in there either, and I sighed.
I turned around and began to walk back to our room, but on my way back, I heard something in Calum's room. I tiptoed to his door and tried to listen in as much as possible.
"I thought things were good," I heard Calum say, which caused my stomach to flip.
"Yeah, me too. What happened?" I heard Dustin ask, and my eyebrows furrowed.
"I don't know," I heard Luke say, sighing afterward. "She's so annoying and difficult." My heart began to beat quickly as I guessed he was talking about me, and as much as I wanted to walk away from the door, I couldn't. "I don't have many pet peeves, but she's my biggest one."
"Luke... that's kind of harsh," Dustin whispered and I nodded in agreement as my mouth puckered into a scowl. I took a step closer and put my ear to the door, wanting to make sure I was hearing everything.
"Well, it's true. I just couldn't pretend anymore," Luke said. Everything was silent for a moment and I bit my lip as I waited. "She's horrible, I can't believe I was ever interested in her. God, she made me fucking happy at one point. Can you believe that? I can't believe Lana's related to Amie."
"What?" I asked myself quietly as I tried to figure out what Luke was talking about.
"Clearly blood is the only thing that relates them. Just forget about Amie, okay? You don't need to worry about her, you're with Lana now," Dustin told Luke and that's when it clicked.
