"Oh my God!" I squealed.
The mere sight of the crimson guitar in his hands filled me with more joy. He looked heart throbbing with the red instrument resting against his grey t-shirt and a killing smile on his face. His eyes shone with ecstasy and the blush on his cheeks had turned brighter. I could stay for hours, staring at his prepossessing figure. The butterflies in my stomach had made their way to my heart and it was fluttering. A wide beam had appeared on my countenance without my acknowledgment. The next thing I know was that I was kissing his cheek. He shyly looked at me as I moved away. I placed my fingers on the guitar strings and gazed into his eyes. It felt as if his cosmos was beneath my fingertips and I beheld my universe.
"How about we spend our night singing?" he asked and kissed my forehead.
"Would there be anything better?" I smiled.
"Come, sit on the bed" he said.
I nodded and sat on the bed while setting my clothes aside.
He handed over the guitar to me and crawled up to the rear of the bed. He sat cross-legged and placed his hands on the either side of my waist. Gradually, he lifted me into his lap. I giggled by his adorable act.
"Comfortable?" he murmured against my hair.
"Never been cosier" I whispered back.
He kissed on the side of my head and placed my hands on the strings. His fingers were settled on mine to guide.
"Play along" he said.
"But what are we playing? And I haven't even tried playing a guitar before" I responded anxiously.
"Don't worry, I'll guide you. Just play, you'll know the song, eventually" he replied and placed another kiss on my head.
"Okay" I said in a hushed tone.
I was excited because Amarion was being so mysterious yet romantic. All the possibilities rushed in my mind. What song could it be? I hoped he chose one of my favourites as he knew all of them.
His fingers moved and I tried my best to keep up. It was difficult to follow and the music didn't seem quite right.
"Gradual babe" he whispered in my ear.
"Hm" I responded and the mention of the word 'babe' by his comforting voice encouraged me.
I concentrated on the movements of his fingertips and finally made music which made sense and seemed similar.
"Could it be?" I thought to myself joyfully.
" If I could fly, I'd be coming right back home to you" he sang while his head rested on my shoulder, his enchanting voice made its way straight to my heart.
"I think I might give up everything, just ask me to" he continued and his slender fingers escorted mine. I couldn't believe that I was playing a guitar. And the words that escaped his lips were like silk for my heart to wrap in.
" Pay attention, I hope that you listen 'cause I let my guard down. Right now I'm completely defenseless" he crooned, the melody echoed in my ears, creating a valley of harmonious paradise. I closed my eyes and just moved my fingers with his. All I could focus on was the song and the profundity it highlighted.
"For your eyes only, I show you my heart. For when you're lonely and forget who you are" he sang and I smiled as those lyrics conveyed his honesty towards me.
"I'm missing half of me when we're apart. Now you know me, for your eyes only. For your eyes only" he continued and it was an epiphany of how he had opened up his confidential side for me, of how he had never been seen so closely, of how incomplete he was and of how he loved me.
He nudged me gently as if asking me to sing. I swallowed deeply. My voice was no match to his. My vocals would never be compatible to juxtapose with his. But he had embraced me with all of my imperfections. He had fallen not for my perfection but for my flaws. Then why would he mind if my voice was no match for his? He was my home, a place where there are no insecurities. Our love was resilient and we weren't abstruse to each other. There was nothing to fear. He had listened to me singing before. And just like I love when he sang for me, perhaps he hearted my crooning for him too. I sighed and cleared my throat gently.
"I've got scars, even though they can't always be seen" I sang while keeping my eyes on the guitar. I felt shy and I didn't know why. The last time I sung for him, it was on the call but he was there beside me now.
" And pain gets hard, but now you're here and I don't feel a thing" my heart hammered against my chest with each word that eloped my warm lips.
" Pay attention, I hope that you listen 'cause I let my guard down. Right now I'm completely defenseless" I continued and took cognizance of how the song related to us. As if every word was carefully chosen to match our togetherness. I was broken and hurt but when Amarion was by my side, nothing afflicted me. Just one honest confession brought all of my barricades down. I was protecting myself from being shattered but also impeded the glee that approached. Little did I know that I had to be defenseless for once to win the battle.
"For your eyes only, I show you my heart. For when you're lonely and forget who you are" my voice slowly left the veil and intoned like it should have. It was true that I showed my heart to him, the guy who loved me. Why? Because he looked past through the walls and glimpsed my heart before I could show, he cared.
"I'm missing half of me when we're apart. Now you know me, for your eyes only. For your eyes only" I could feel him smile against my ear. His fingers had tightened their grasp on mine. I was disintegrating when he was assumed to be dying. When he had closed his eyes it felt as if my cosmos was fragmenting, all the clusters were flickering, the galaxies had gone astray and the stars were falling. The gleam and glisten were lost in the darkness. Only murk was in existence and everything else was in its last throe. I was witnessing my universe splintering into a black hole.
"I can feel your heart inside of mine" Amarion sang and brought me out of my dark thoughts. Making me realise that the hard time was over, our hearts were beating together.
"I've been going out of my mind" he continued and made me smile.
"Know that I'm just wasting time" I crooned and giggled a little.
"And I" he intoned and the movement of our fingers ceased. My heart skipped a beat as he was about to sing my favourite part.
"Hope that you don't run from me" he sang enchantingly. And as I heard the words, my heart started beating again. I secretly hoped that too, hoped that he never runs from me and stays by my side when I'd be at my worst. I willed he loved me even when I'd be unable to be loved. I wished he always kept me embraced as a whole though I'd be splintering. I desired him to make me his eternal home where he would remain, even if it turned apocalyptic.
"For your eyes only" he moved his fingers again and created music as he sang.
"I show you my heart" I closed my eyes and listened to the profound melody which rose from our hearts.
"For when you're lonely" he sang softly and planted a kiss on my ear, making me forget what loneliness was.
"And forget who you are" I almost whispered. He often forgot his worth and his abilities. He was a star on earth, how could he forget that?
"I'm missing half of me" he sang and moved his mouth from my ear.
"When we're apart. Now you know me, for your eyes only" we chorused and he moved his fingers faster. I could barely keep up.
"For your eyes only, I show you my heart. For when you're lonely and forget who you are. I'm missing half of me when we're apart. Now you know me, for your eyes only" we sang together and beamed. I felt so happy. Our voices did match and sounded lovely. It wasn't music, it was magic.
"For your eyes only" he concluded gradually as I turned back and gazed into his eyes. Both of us were smiling at each other.
Our hearts may be buried in our chests but they were vividly visible for our eyes only.
