I looked at the door of the washroom, it was open and the lights were turned off. The room was empty and made my heart drop a little. Where could he be? The curtain of the balcony were not slid. But that was the one place he could be at. I gradually slid the curtain and found the door open. I quickly stepped inside and looked ahead. There he was staring at the sky with his dreamy eyes. The way he looked at the constellations conveyed that there was something else more complex on his mind, forth which the pattern of the stars were simple and tactic. I was confused whether I should talk to him or return as if I never came. But was I in his life to just share happiness? Weren't moments of sadness as such when he needed me the most. Was I supposed to turn away? No, I had to stand with him against his fears. I had to figure out what he feared so much that angered him.
I walked slowly towards him. He was too lost in thoughts to acknowledge my approach. I gradually slid my arms under his and grabbed his shoulders while resting my head on his back. It felt so relieving to feel him after long. All of my worries faded away. He and his beautiful thoughts were in my embrace. I smiled softly against the exposed skin of his nape and planted a kiss. He moved his hand on mine and rested his cheek against my head. It felt as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
"I missed you" I whispered after a moment of loving silence.
"I missed you too" he hushed back.
"Then why did you lock yourself up here? I was yearning for your sight. Nothing can be more painful than knowing that you're around me but being unable to see you" I said the feelings I had been holding in. I never felt a barrier between us, he was the one person to whom I could speak without hesitation. He was the paper and I was the ink, one blank and the other non-existent without each other.
"I am sorry. I just thought I had over reacted. I didn't know how to face you" he replied. I couldn't see his countenance but I knew there was a frown on it. Why was he behaving so insecure?
"Face? You don't have to face me. We're one and we'll always be" I said and planted another kiss on his skin.
He just hummed in response and I knew at once, he didn't want to talk about it.
"Anyways, I forgot the box in the library. Can we go fetch it?" I asked and moved my arms to his waist.
"Oh" he responded in monotone.
"Pretty please" I said in a pitched tone and squeezed his belly.
"Anything for you" he replied and grabbed my hands, turning me around.
"I love you" I whispered as I gazed into his eyes. It felt like an eternity since I have seen those mesmerising galaxies.
I took in every detail of his hazel eyes, waiting for his reply.
He placed the wild strand of my hair behind my ear. I could witness the eagerness and impatience on his face. He was missing me as much as I was missing him. But what was that one thing that kept him back? I pushed the curiosity to the back of my mind and focused on the beauty forth me.
"I love you too" he replied with a smile. I sighed and giggled. He pulled me into a hug and kissed on the crook of my neck.
"I love you so so so so so much" I said childishly and hugged him tighter.
"I love you so so so so so so so much too" he imitated and lifted me up. I squealed with excitement and moved my feet back and forth in celebration.
He chuckled and kissed on my cheek. I watched his smiling face as he put me back to my feet. His smile was the one that could melt the coldest of glaciers and could make a winter night warm. I placed my palm on his jawline and he kissed my hand with his eyes closed. In that brief moment he looked a heavenly angel. I couldn't take my eyes off him.
