Amour

Our lips moved in synchronisation. His warm tounge explored the long touched corners of the opening of my mouth. The surrealistic taste appeased my soul. With every second, the snog grew more ardent. His comforting hands held me protectively close. My fingers traced his nape. I craved more and more. For a moment, we forgot that we were surrounded by deadly conflagration. I slowed down the movement of my lips and pecked his. He gazed deeply in my eyes as I pulled away. I rested my forehead against his and whispered "we have to get out of here. Remember?" He nodded with a smile and loosened his firm grip on my waist. I got up on my feet and turned around. The fire had engulfed half of the floor. The shelf still rested on Amarion's leg. I kicked it hardly in order to push it away but it was too heavy. I then attempted to displace it using my hands. With a lot of effort, it slightly moved. Exposing half of his limb but the foot was yet under it.

"Pull your leg out" I suggested Amarion. After a few fail attempts he groaned "I can't move it". I moved to the rear of the shelf and placed my fingers and palms on the edge of it. "Drag your leg out when I lift. Okay?" I informed Amarion and he nodded. I bit my lip and lifted it with my entire strength. The block rose a little from the ground and Amarion swiftly pulled his leg out by using his hands. He let out a growl in pain. I immediately moved to him. His leg appeared more crimson under the red light. It was injured recklessly. His jeans was ripped and revealed his severe lesion. He twitched as I delicately ran my fingers across his wounds. The blood stained my skin as faint whimpers escaped his plump lips. I couldn't see him in agony. I placed my arms around him and helped him get up. His leg was paralysed. I kept his arm around my neck and held his waist to aid him walk.

The fire ahead us had combusted whatever came forth it. The wrathful tides of blaze dazzled in the vast darkness. The way to the staircase was blocked. And I knew no other way out. I looked at Amarion with fret. He pursed his lips and his Adam's apple bobbed. I gazed around to find an exit. The dim scarlet lights mixed with the continuous orange flare. The smoke contrasted with the red and yellow glow making it more baffling to visualise. Our eyes desperately searched for an elope but the fire had us ambushed. The water from sprinklers landed on our skin and gave an illusion of blood droplets under the vermilion gleam.

I gazed at Amarion. His jaw was tensed. The showering water drenched from his hair and streamed down his face while joining the beads of sweat and tears. The wide grin he had a little while ago vanished like the stars from the sky during the day. His eyes reflected the hue of the devastating fire as if his pupils had turned into fireballs. His eyebrows were furrowed together producing fine lines on his forehead. In the scene of havoc, he was the sunshine. During the murky storm, he was my moonlight. In the intense calamity, he was the rainbow for me. Amongst the melting heat, he was my shade. I looked at him like a prisoner peers the window. I held onto him the way the imprisoned grasp the bars. Again, one night had changed everything to a whole new level.

Why hadn't I realised this before?

He turned to me, interrupting my concentration on him. He beheld my face as if trying to read my mind. Perhaps, he was searching for the hope. A hope that'd help us escape. His expression turned calm rather than becoming dismayed. I couldn't figure what he was thinking. Time felt longer. We stood there observing each other's faces while we were surrounded by wild flames. He brought my body closer to his and whispered "very dark". My eyes gaped. "Deadly spark?" My words were followed by a titter. He grinned and shook his head. I looked at him in confusion when something caught my eye. A large glass mirrored the dull light behind me. Was it a window? I gestured at it and exclaimed "there!"
"What?" He asked in surprise. "A window" I informed and dragged him to it. "Slow down. It is hurting" he complained like a child. I muttered an apology. After kicking and dodging a few broken objects, we reached the glass.

I discovered my assumption to be correct as it was a big window. But it had turned translucent due to the thick aerosol. I leaned Amarion against a wall and looked for something heavy. "What are you doing?" He asked out of reluctance. "Breaking the glass" I informed while picking a chair I found and striking the casement. Amarion chuckled "you're insane". "If we don't get out of here soon, the spark is going to show us how lovely it is" I replied and he laughed in response.

I peeped down and fortunately saw a pile of mattresses. They were loaded on a truck. Possibly, they were to be brought into the market sometime later. But at that moment, they could be our life savers. I joyfully turned to Amarion. I took him closer to the window and apprised excitingly "look down". He viewed the stacked mattresses and gazed at me. He was flabbergasted. "You mean we're jumping?" He questioned. I nooded and smirked. "I already have an injured leg" he reasoned and gestured at his torn jeans. "And we'll be having burnt and dead bodies if we don't" I scolded him and raised my eyebrow. "Okay" he gulped. I glanced at the area we were standing at before. The fire had conquered over it and the large shelf had rested there combusting. Pieces collapsed from it and some of them turned into ashes.

What if I hadn't find him in time? He would've been.. The thought made me shiver. A pang rose in my chest and my throat choked. My eyes brimmed with tears. I would've lost him forever. I would've received the cognizance of my feelings for him when it was too late. My lip trembled and my mind froze with jeopardy. Amarion held my arm and pressed me to his chest. It felt warm and comforting. Finally, I obtained a hug when I needed it the most. My saviour was there. My mate. He kissed on the top of my head and murmured "I love you". I wailed and buried my face in his chest. I could feel his rapid heartbeat. To be honest, it was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard because I knew for whom exactly it was beating. "I love you too" I confessed for the second time. He squeezed me and I hugged back tighter. I had found the missing pieces of mine. The stubborn loneliness drifted away. The anguish incinerated in the holocaust of the gloomy past. My subdued soul wasn't submerging into despondency anymore. The gaps in my heart, created by the affliction, were ultimately filled with adoration. I was no longer half a spirit.

We pulled away sniffling. The ringing alarms and crepitation reverberated around us. I smiled at him and held his hand. He beamed in response and managed to stand without support. I silently prayed that we made it out alive.

We stepped closer to the shattered window with the famished conflagration approaching us. I looked at him with endearment and he glanced back as if he knew exactly what I was going to say. "Falling in love" we shouted together. "Falling for you" we continued. The aggravated inferno emitted heat as the distance decreased. The dense smoke swirled around us. We closed our eyes and grinned. There was no fear. Only ecstasy and euphoria. With one last breath, we yelled each other's names and jumped.

I eloped from the cliff of ordeal by flying through the free fall of love. An emancipating love.
