Amour

I couldn't believe my eyes. Those four words which I shared with that stranger were quoted and framed. All this time, the people I wanted to meet weren't different people but the same. The one who saved my bag, the little girl's brother, the stranger at the balcony and the guy at the corniche was no other than Amarion. I gulped and turned to him. "You?" I asked with surprise. "Me?" He questioned back.

"I mean where did you get this qoute from?" I interrogated while biting my lip.

"A stranger, a girl" he started but before he could complete,  I engulfed him into a hug. "I can't believe you were there all this time" I murmured with euphoria.

He embraced me back and I moved away when I realised what I was doing.

"You were there that day?" Amarion asked with a smile.

"Yeah" I giggled.

"Amusing" he stuttered.

"Coincidence" I stuck my tounge out.

"There are no accidents" he smugged and said dramatically.

"Kung fu Panda?" I exclaimed. He chuckled and nodded.

I checked the time and realised that dad was going to be there soon. "We should go to Jade's room. Dad will be here soon" I apprised him and gestured towards the door.  "Already?" The corners of his mouth turned downwards. "Yeah. I stayed for two good hours" I answered with a smile. He half smiled and opened the door. We walked to Jade room in silence. I gazed around at the fancy house. "Beautiful home" I complimented. "Thanks" he muttered. "My mom and I chose.." he trailed on but I responded him in mid sentence "your mom told me".

He looked at me and gestured at the door. I knocked it. Jade opened it immediately.  "Got bored alas?" Jade asked while sniggering. "Not really" I smiled and shared a look with Amarion. "I've to go soon" I reasoned and Jade pursed her lips. "Come in Ame and stay out brother" she commanded and went inside. Amarion shrugged his shoulders and moved back. I raised my eyebrows and mouthed "I'll be back".

I stepped into her room and as expected it was all pink and girly. It felt like I entered a room of Brats'. Her bed was huge and the enormous closet was placed across it. Her computer and study table were ahead of me. A couch and small coffee table were situated in the farthest corner. Most of the furniture was hued fuchsia and floral. The walls matched the upholstery. There were posters of random celebrities and a picture of her with her friends hung on the wall by her bed.

"Liked it?" She boasted. "Yeah" I replied. Honestly,  Amarion's room was more welcoming.  Jade's was like a glamorous party room. And his is more spacious. She chatted about her friends and other boring stuff. I just listened and spoke less. My father called and said that he was on his way. I quickly excused myself and Jade hugged me. I stepped out of her extravagant room. She ain't bad but caught in fake fame and attitude. It is unbelievable that Amarion and Jade are siblings. Lily does seem like his sister. Lily? Where is she?

Amarion stood by the wall. He seemed to be waiting for me. "I'm sorry. She doesn't stop talking" I apologised and he smirked. "I know, right?" He winked. I chortled and sensed his twinkling eyes on me. When I glanced at him, he was grinning. I moved my gaze to the stairs. "Your dad called?" He asked soberly. "Yeah. He is on his way" I informed and walked to the staircase. He followed me. "Amour?" He called. "Hm?" I turned around. He moved his hand forward to shake. I accepted the hand shake. "Thank you for coming over and I'm sorry for reminding you about him" he said honestly. "Aw don't be. In fact thank you for inviting me, for playing those butt kicking video games and especially for singing" I appreciated and gave the cutest smile I'm capable of.

"That's sweet of you. I shouldn't have reminded anyway.." he rambled but I stopped him by speaking "it's okay. He was my past and I'm trying to move on. Pain is not to embalm" I reasoned. His grip on my hand tightened and he gently brushed his thumb across it. His eyes gleamed with a familiar emotion. "I wish I could call you over" I said changing the topic. "Oh! You can come here anytime. I don't think mom would mind" he responded with a sinister grin. I recognised his intentions. "You can do anything to annoy Jade" I remarked and giggled. He chuckled. "Where is Lily?"I questioned. I almost forgot about her again. "Asleep. You've to pay another visit" he replied. "Of course. If it doesn't bother your mom" I joked and emphasised the word 'mom'. Both of us guffawed. My phone buzzed, an indication that dad had arrived. "I've to go. Take care and thanks a lot" I said in a hurry and rushed downstairs.

I moved my hand from his and he gazed at my fingers sliding away. He didn't let go of my hand. His palm stayed unmoved. I loosened my grip and ended the hand shake. I waved him goodbye while slinging my bag on my shoulder. He waved back.

I descended the stairs quickly and witnessed Amarion's mother emerging from the kitchen. "I've to go. Thank you for everything" I blurted and she hugged me mildly.  "Do come again. I'd love it if you spend time with me" she smiled delightfully. I grinned and agreed. "I hope you influence your accidental friend" she joked. I giggled and Amarion's words replayed in my mind "there are no accidents". "It was nice meeting you" I said and stepped towards the door.

She unlocked the door for me. Before going outside, I turned around and gazed at Amarion who was still standing where I'd left him.

I smiled and walked out. His face flashed before my eyes. "Very dark. Lovely spark" I thought to myself and headed for dad's car.

Destiny devastates us at times. We submerge in the dour and frivolous affliction. Unaware that everything has a reason.
