Whispering

If you will notice, my one-shots are usually based on their photos or screenshots. I usually depend the story on what I see on a specific picture. The title follows suit. I think my titles change whenever A&M are in the mood ^_^v

The rain continued to fall on that Saturday afternoon. The soft pitter-pattering as they hit the roofs of the nearby buildings. The two of them were standing on the terrace, barricaded by iron fences and different kinds of potted flowers.

"May pabulaklak ka na naman..." Maine said. They were both standing beside the door leading inside the building. It was sugod-Broadway so the main camera was not on them and their mics were turned off.

"Syempre. Alam mo namang ganito ako kapag magkasama tayo." RJ answered. His arm was perched on the wall opposite Maine while the other one was gripping the railings. Maine was standing in front of him, clutching the bouquet that he handed earlier.

"Sus! Hindi naman lagi."

"Eh sabi mo kasi sayang. Ang dami na kamong nagbibigay sa'yo ng flowers." RJ responded back. "Mas gusto mo pa nga ata 'yung mga 'yun eh..." he whispered.

Maine looked at him and smiled. "Tumigil ka nga d'yan. Para kang baliw."

"Eh kasi..."

"Shokoy...you don't have to give me all the flowers in Dangwa. Alam mo namang mababaw lang akong tao. Magkasama lang tayo masayang-masaya na ako."

"Seryoso ba 'yan?"

"Tingnan mo 'to. Mukha ba akong nagbibiro?"

RJ's lips spread widely. He suddenly felt giddy inside. "Hindi ko na kasi alam if you're still joking or serious time na eh."

Maine glanced at him again. She sighed deeply and looked away. RJ thought that he offended her. "Uy...huwag kang magalit..."

"I'm not mad..."

"Eh bakit napabuntong-hininga ka d'yan?"

"Kasi naman...ilang beses ko ba sasabihin sa'yo na hindi ako nagbibiro kapag tayong dalawa?"

RJ lightly scratched his head, unable to say anything back.

Actually, he got lots to say. He wanted to tell her that there were moments when he couldn't guess if Maine was telling the truth or if she was still playing with him. There were times when he wanted every conversation that they had to be serious but cameras were always on them and they just couldn't stop themselves to goof around. Because they were known to be like that. To play and joke around.

"Oh, nanahimik ka na naman d'yan." Maine tucked some loose hairs beside her ear.

"Maine, anong gagawin mo kapag nagseryoso na ako?"

Maine's free hand, the one that was not holding the flowers, stopped mid-air. She slowly raised her eyes to look at the man in front of him. The man that was looking back at him with a very solemn face. Her mind told her to crack a joke, but she couldn't find the right words. It was as if her tongue turned to lead and her witty brain suddenly turned dumb.

"Oh, nanahimik ka na naman d'yan." RJ copied her words after a few seconds of nerve-wrecking silence.

Maine snorted and hit RJ's arms. " Nang-aano ka eh!"

"Aray! Ikaw! Magkaka-pasa na talaga ako sa'yo."

Maine felt guilty. "Masakit na ba? Sabi ko sa'yo sabihan mo ako kapag sumusobra na ako nang panghahampas sa'yo."

"Joke lang. Di ka naman mabiro."

"Hmmmm...joke..." Maine repeated.

RJ felt that those words meant something. He slowly held Maine's free hand and squeezed it. "Sabihan mo ako kapag may sagot ka na tanong ko huh?"

Maine stared at their hands. She smiled and looked up. She stared deeply into RJ's eyes; expressing emotions she could not say yet. "Okay."

"And I demand a serious answer."

"Sure..." Maine answered back and added, "We both deserve it."

RJ nodded in agreement. He was about to add something when they heard on their earphone that sugod-Broadway was done. They fixed themselves and stood upright. A quick eyebrow play that they both knew the meaning behind and faced the main camera.

"Game ulit." they both said to themselves.

I am sorry about the typo errors. I am not proud with my sentence construction either (curse you Subject Verb Agreement!) 😂
