The small group sat in silence as they were once again transported back to Quentin and Tara. Jacob mostly felt back for Axel. He had just gotten his sister out of there and now she was going right back.
Jacob could read the murder written all over Axel's face the whole way to the compound. Jacob wouldn't be surprised he himself had the same expression. Quentin and Tara just wouldn't give up.
The truck finally came to a halt after a ride that felt like it would never end. The head guard opened the back of the truck and looked over all of them. "Put bags over their heads and bring them inside," he instructed. The guards immediately began climbing in the truck and shoving bags over everyone's heads, despite the fact that their hands were already bound and they were connected to RESATs.
After putting a bag on him, one of the guards pulled Jacob to his feet, then proceeded to push him out of the truck. Jacob didn't know if all of his friends were being taken to the same place as him. He had no way of knowing.
Jacob walked blindly through the building, with absoloutely no idea where he was going. At this point, he was relying his well-being on the two guards leading him, and that wasn't very settling.
Eventually, Jacob heard a door close behind him, and the guards forced him into a chair. The bag was not yet taken off of Jacob.
"Where are we?" Jacob asked allowed, even though he was pretty sure the guards wouldn't answer. They didn't. Jacob sighed softly, sitting back in his chair. They couldn't keep him in whatever room this was with a bag in his head forever. They had to be waiting for something. Maybe the others.
Sure enough, Jacob heard the door open and close again, and again, until he was sure all of his friends were in the room with them.
"Hello?" A small voice squeaked. Jacob recognized it as that of Mackenzie.
Jacob was about to answer when he heard a loud thump. The sound of the guards grabbing their guns followed. Jacob frowned. Whatever what was happening, it didn't sound good.
"Put down the gun!" A guard ordered. Jacob's heart rate sped up, in hope that someone was here to save them. It took him only a moment to realize that there was no one else to save them. But then who was it who the guards were talking to?
Jacob inspected an answer from the attacker but instead, a gun was fired. Immediately, two more shots were fired, both from Jacob's right, the opposite side of the attacker.
The attacker grunted in frustration, but it didn't sound to Jacob like they had been hit. There were two more thinks that sounded like a gun being cracked against a skull. Jacob cringed at the sound. Silence followed. Jacob listened silently in anxiousness. It was near impossible to tell if it was the attacker or the guard who had won the short battle.
Suddenly, Jacob's mask was pulled off his head. He flinched, expecting it to be a guard, but was instead staring into the grinning face of Nichelle. Jacob's jaw dropped.
"How did you get out of all your... Bindings?" He asked.
"The RESAT darts don't affect me anymore," Nichelle explained as she turned off and took Jacob's RESAT off of him. "Fortunately, they didn't know that."
"Very fortunate," Jacob said matter-of-factly.
"Now help me with the others. The back-up guards will be here soon."
Jacob nodded and helped get Mackenzie and Ryann out of their bindings as Nichelle worked on Axel and Peyton.
"Come on, we've got to go," Nichelle said hurriedly as soon as everyone was out. She yanked the door open and looked both ways. Turning left was out of question due to a wall stopping their path, but a swarm of guards were approaching the room very fast from the right.
"Everyone back in!" Nichelle commanded. "We need to find another way out!"
"Wait," Axel said. "I think Peyton can take care of this."
"Wha-?" Nichelle looked down at Peyton as she slowly stepped out into the hallway. As soon as the guards saw the young girl, they began shooting their RESAT darts but, strangely enough, none of them were hitting her.
Jacob squinted hard to see some sort of electric force field forming infront of Peyton. It wasn't the actual wall that was protecting Peyton but the electricity within the wall. It would zap the darts to dust before they could reach her.
Jacob watched as Peyton then pulled her hands back and pushed them at the wall. The entire wall rushed forward, almost if it were a sonic blast, towards the guards. Upon reaching them, Jacob saw the entire fleet light up into a multitude of sparks as they collapsed to the ground.
"The wall works similarly to a electric ball," Axel explained, "except it's a lot larger and requires a lot more energy."
Axel walked over to Peyton, who was looking faint, as scooped her up into his arms. He looked back at the rest of the group, ignoring their surprised faces.
"Are we going or what?" Axel asked.
Nichelle quickly shook out her shock and nodded. "Let's go." Nichelle took the lead as the small group ran down the hallways.
"Mackenzie, do you know kind of where Ethan and Raymond are?" Nichelle asked.
"Yeah, take a left here," Mackenzie instructed. Nichelle took a sharp left.
Jacob slowed down as they ran so he could drop back to Axel, who was still carrying Peyton.
"How long has she been able to do that for?" Jacob asked.
"About three years," Axel answered.
"And what else can she do?"
"Well she can create more concentrated electric armor around herself to protect from bullets. If that's what you mean."
Jacob nodded. "That's pretty awesome. She's pretty powerful."
"Yeah, but not powerful enough to sustain it. Not yet anyway," Axel muttered.
"Here! I think it's here!" Mackenzie suddenly called out. The group ground to a halt in front of one of the cells.
"Which one?" Nichelle asked.
"The left one," Mackenzie answered.
Nichelle turned towards the door, frowning as she saw the lock.
"I've got it," Ryann voiced. "It's a technological lock."
"Then have at it," Nichelle said as she took a step back.
Ryann raised her hand towards the door and concentrated. A moment later, the door popped and Nichelle easily pulled it open.
Raymond was standing there, in the light of the door, grinning like a madman. Ethan was standing behind him.
"Well? What took you guys so long?" Raymond asked.
