I lay in bed that night going over what Tris told me.

What if there is some information? What if Marcus wasn't bluffing and Jeanine really is after information the Abnegation leaders had had in their possession? What does that mean for us?

I got little to no sleep that night.

Now, the next morning, standing in front of the wall-mounted mirror in the back of my room, I feel like smacking myself.

How could I succumb to this state of defeat so much so that he's starting to sound like an actual human being to me.

What has happened to me.

I leave my room with several cuts on my face from shaving, and my hair is askew. But I don't have time to fix it - after all, I don't want to be late to work.

The kitchen is stuffy today. People mostly keep to themselves except to tell me I'm doing something wrong or to direct me to my next task.

Washing dishes is what I'm doing now. After I finish this, I can go to my room - better yet, see Tris. So I quickly make my dish water and start soaking my dishes.

Just then, the door opens and several people - obviously Amity from their chipper voices - walk in.

They're talking up a storm and I don't have to strain to hear them.

"-the refugees? Yeah, they look so scared. I wish we could do more to welcome them." a young male's voice says.

"Uh huh, except for those couple Dauntless refugees. They scare me. Even the girl, and she's smaller than me!" A females voice sounds.

"But especially the guy she's with. I hear is some kind of Dauntless prodigy. And on top of that, he's Marcus Eaton's son!"

I instantly tense up and near break the plate in holding in half. My mind floats back to what Caleb told me when I told him not to mention that I was Marcus's son. "I don't have to mention it - anyone with eyes can see it."

The Amity loudmouths' voices yank me from my thoughts.

"Hey, I heard that those newspaper articles were true - he really did get beat by his father!" I continue to wash the dishes faster and faster, my pace matches my heart rate.

"Wow, that's crazy. Maybe we did turn them in to Erudite, it would be safer for all of us." I finish the dish I'm on and drop it very noisily into the sink, causing all chatter in the room to come to an abrupt close. I then turn around and face the Amity loudmouths.

"I won't waste time with introductions because you clearly already know a ton about me. So let's talk about you instead. Do you really think you're doing any good by talking about things you don't understand with aimless people at random times?! Do you honestly think you're helping something or someone, because if you do, you're more stupid than I thought you were." I forcefully push past them and leave the kitchen.
