When I finally come to, I realize that I'm in a cell.
It's an Erudite holding cell, and it doesn't look like they're letting me go any time soon.
Almost as soon as I wake up, Dauntless traitors flood my cell and hold me back from leaving even though I haven't moved at all.
Several of them grab my arms and hold them in place as another one enters the room.
He walks over to me slowly, like he has all the time in the world.
"I understand the this must be uncomfortable for you, considering your claustrophobia and all, but I can assure you that it's temporary, just as long as you coorporate."
I snort. But inside, I'm finally noticing just how tight this room is.
"I am going to ask you several questions that I know you have the answers to, and as long as you answer truthfully, you're free to go. Is that understood?" He says coolly.
I look him in the eye with boredom. Who does he think he is?
"Where are the remaining Divergent hiding?" He asks.
"I don't know." I lie,my face stoic.
He smirks. "Are you sure? Because I'm not."
And then one of the Dauntless Traitors punches me right in my side.
You can tell he packed power into it, probably thinking that it wouldn't have hurt otherwise, but whether it hurts or not, I'm not giving up where they are.
So I grit my teeth and suppress a groan.
"Don't lie, Tobias. We know you were in Factionless a few weeks ago, and we know that your mother is planning something involving the Divergent, so tell me: Where are the remaining Divergent?" He's not smiling anymore.
"I told you I don't-" Before I can finish my sentence another Dauntless traitor punches me, this time in the ribs. I'm not quick enough to grit my teeth and a groan escapes me. The Traitor in front of me smirks again. He knows it's hurting me.
But what he doesn't know is that no matter what he does to me, I'm not telling.
"Im sure you don't want this pain to continue, because each time you lie, it will get worse. I'm sure you wouldn't want to leave her with permanent injuries would you?" He glares at me while smiling.
I simply glare at him back.
In the blink of an eye he's pulled his gun from its holster and has it pointed at my forehead.
I don't even flinch.
I've had more guns pointed at my face than I can count on one hand.
He sees that I'm undaunted by it and it makes him furious. He promptly knocks the butt of it into the side of my face, knocking me slightly to the side and causing pain to explode in that area of my head.
When I regain my bearings, I proceed to glare at him again.
"I have a question." I say, trying to ignore my newfound headache. "Take me to Tris." I know it's not a real question, but I think it gives them an idea.
The guy in front of me claps his hands together. "Wonderful suggestion. Why don't we?!" As if given a que, the guards holding me lift me off of the bench I'm on and walks me over to the door just as the other guy is opening it.
The hallways smell just like it did before, but this time it's overwhelming. It's probably because of my headache, but that doesn't change how nauseous it's making me feel.
I suddenly find myself stumbling forward. The guards are quick to catch me, but it's much more rough than is necessary. It seems that I'm tiring them.
As we walk down the hallway I spot someone at the end of it. Actually two someone's. One is holding the other who looks like they're trying to see who's coming their way too.
As we start to get closer, I begin to make out the one being held's features.
It's a she, and she has blond hair and is wearing a black zip up shirt-
I stop walking.
It's Tris.
Forgetting that I'm being held back by three guards and the fact that Tris is being held back also, I charge in her direction.
It doesn't take the guards long to grab me but I still get close enough to see her.
My spirits instantly lift. Seeing her unscathed makes me so happy I wish I could hug her.
But then I remember how she got here, how she didn't promise me.
I frown.
Tris sees my face change and hers instantly does too. "Four what are you doing here??!" She asks frantically.
"You made your choice, and I've made mine." I say simply.
"But why?!" She's about to cry, I can see it in her eyes. And I realize then that I am too.
"You die, I die too."
