The first desicion we have to make is whether or not Eric will live after he's been convicted of the crimes he's committed.
He's been being held in one of Candors holding cells, but after his interrogation - which was yesterday - he was moved to a guarded guest room.
Tori, Lauren, and I must decide whether he lives or dies.
All of the Dauntless, with the leaders in the front, are going to the room he's being held in.
Each of us are holding guns.
When we get to his room, he looks up and smirks as we unlock the door.
This most likely won't be easy.
Tori enters first, and I hold the door for everyone else. When everyone is situated inside, Tori steps up to him.
He's sitting in a chair, his wrists cuffed to the arms.
But even though he's not going anywhere any time soon, everyone still look threatened by him.
Everyone except the three of us.
And Tris, wherever she is.
Tori takes it upon herself to speak first.
"Would you like us to state your crimes or do you want to yourself?"
He looks up at us. "Why don't you do the honors."
We exchange glances with each other, but in the end, Lauren is the one who speaks up.
"You are being convicted of helping orchestrate an attack on Abnegation, trying to kidnap Divergent from Candor, and shooting a child in the head. Are these accusations true?"
"Guilty as charged." He says mockingly. "I suppose this is the part where you kill me?"
"Yes actually." I say, tired of hearing his mouth already. The three leaders - including me - empty our guns of all their bullets but we leave a bullet in each gun.
"Who wants to do the honors?" Tori asks.
Eric looks at me. "I want him to do it. Just so he'll have to live with the guilt."
I almost laugh in his face. If he thinks I'll feel any guilt while ending his life, he's largely mistaken.
But I don't have to show him that.
I keep my face expressionless as I point my gun at him.
"Lets see how you cope with this. You've already had one person weaken you. Will this do the same?" He taunts. "You know, Jeanine isn't going to stop coming after you. Especially her." He gestures with his head at Tris.
"Don't bring her into this." I say firmly.
"Why, because you're doing her?"
I wince involuntarily.
But I recover quickly and point my gun at his forehead.
"I've learned to live with the blood on my hands. Can you?"
I sigh. "Be brave, Eric."
And then I pull the trigger.
I do not look away.
