Chapter VII • Starting Line

I'm here again, standing outside the house of the reason of my tears these past few weeks. Two weeks after the last time we met was also two weeks without her. Jho told me that I need to talk to Mads as soon as I realized how important Maddie to me. And now, I'm here.

"Bea? Hija, anong ginagawa mo dito?"

"Yaya, si Mads po? Kausapin ko lang po siya. Di na po kasi siya uma-attend sa mga training."

No answer, she just open the gate to let me go inside. I go upstairs, my heart beats faster, feeling uncomfortable. I hold her door knob and turned it, it's cold.

As I lift my gaze, and then I found...nothing. As in, nothing. Her bedsheet was neat, her cabinets were empty. No posters around the walls. Every furniture were covered by white curtains. What happened?

"Bea, lumipat na sila."

"Yaya, saan po? Ano pong address?"

"Hindi dito, sa US..."

It's too late. Too late for me to realize, too late for us to fix all of these troubles, but at least I've tried.

"A-alis nalang po ako..."

"Eto, pinapabigay niya nga pala. Baka sakali daw na pumunta ka parin dito."

A small envelope. Indicates, "Bea" on the back part of it.

"Salamat po...may sinabi pa po ba siya?"

"Wala na. Yan lang naman yung binilin niya."

Grabe excited nakong sabihin to sakanya. I'm very sure, she will be happy because of my great news...

Message to Bea:

Hey Beh, can we meet here sa mall? I have a great news for you.
...

Nasan na kaya siya? Tumawag nako sa landline nila, but her mom answered the phone and told me na wala siya sa bahay kanina pa. This past few weeks kasi, ako na yung nakakasama ni Bea lagi, sa trainings, sa loob ng campus, sa lahat. Close na talaga kami, iba yung pakiramdam kapag siya yung kasama ko. Kaya hinahanap-hanap ko na rin kapag wala siya, nasanay narin siguro.

"Bestie..."

"Ow, bilis ah."

Teleport? Bilis. Standing in front of me is the lady that makes me happy everyday and wearing her widest smile, it's my bestie Bea.

"Nag-text ka kasi. So, nag-decide nakong dumiretso dito sa mall."

"So, saan ka naman galing? Sabi ng mom mo kanina ka pa daw umalis?"

"Malapit lang naman dito, kila Mads."

Mads. Ano kayang napag-usapan nila? Ano na? Nagkaayos na kaya sila?

"Anong sabi, bakit siya di nakaka-attend ng trainings?"

"Wala di naman kami nakapag-usap e..."

"Ay, wala dun? Malas mo naman pala beh."

"Matagal na pala talaga silang wala dun. Umalis na kasi sila ng mom niya, pumunta na daw sa US..."

"Gahdd..."

Her smile vanished. I know, until now Maddie is very important to her, as in really. Mads can make her smile more than anyone can do, more than me. Mads, is everything for her. I don't have to pretend that I'm not hurt, that I don't get jealous with Maddie...

"But, of course it's alright. I know that you're always here naman for me. It's time for me to move on, forget what was in the past and just look forward for my future, our future bestie."
