Promise Ring

Your girlfriend Lynn Gunn had been rather distant lately. You'd been together for the last six months and had been on tour with PVRIS. But ever since a round of interviews towards the end of the tour where interviewers started asking Lynn serious questions about our relationship that's when she started pulling away. Brian and Alex told you not to worry and that Lynn was just stressed with all their recent success.

But for the third day this week, Lynn made up an excuse to leave the apartment without you. However today you'd had enough so decided to follow her in your own car. She pulls into a car park and walks into your favourite cafe. Suspicious, you pull up alongside her car and get out.

Standing outside the cafe you can't believe what you're seeing. Lynn was sat across from her ex-girlfriend looking a little too comfy for your liking. She told you that they didn't speak anymore but clearly they were still in contact. Lynn laughs at something her ex says and touches her hand. You'd seen enough and left, Lynn would have some explaining to do later.

When I got back to mine and y/n's shared apartment y/n wasn't home which was odd. But I didn't think much of it because it meant I had time alone to make tonight special for my girlfriend. I slid the small box into my pocket as I set about making a romantic dinner to the best of my ability; I needed to show y/n just how much I loved her. Yes, I'd been distant with her but I just wanted everything to go perfectly tonight.

After calming down you make your way back to the apartment and see Lynn's car in the drive. You plan on confronting her as soon as you step foot inside, you deserved answers.

"Lynn?"

You call out as you shut the front door behind yourself.

"In the dining room babe."

You scoff as she calls you babe as if nothing was wrong. Then you notice something, candles were lit leading from the front door towards the dining room along with scattered rose petals. You follow the trail and your mouth hits the floor as you take in the dining room.

Candles illuminate the small room and on the table was a beautiful dinner Lynn had obviously put effort into. And talking of your girlfriend Lynn gets up from her chair and kneels down on one knee in front of you holding a small box.

"y/n, I know I've been distant and I'm ashamed to say that some of the interviews got to me about our relationship. I love you and wanted to find a special way to show you. I want to spend forever with you y/n, so I'm promising to be yours if you'll be mine."

You gasp as she opens the small box and your eyes land on a beautiful silver ring.

"Of course I promise to be yours forever Lynn, but we can't keep secrets from each other."

"What do you mean y/n?"

Lynn slides the ring onto your finger before standing up with confusion written on her face. You sigh.

"I got suspicious and followed you, I thought you didn't talk to your ex anymore."

You expect Lynn to react and defend her actions, not for her to start laughing before pulling you into a hug.

"She owns a ring shop silly and made the rings because I wanted them to be unique like our love. I'm sorry but I was trying to keep this surprise secret."

Okay, now you feel stupid for jumping to conclusions. Of course, Lynn didn't want you to know her big surprise. You bury your face into her shoulder and laugh.

"I love you, Lynn, now let's enjoy this beautiful meal."

She cups your chin and kisses you quite passionately before pulling back and smiling.

"Hopefully I don't give us food poisoning because the nights still young babe."

She wiggles her eyebrows suggestively and you playfully shove your girlfriend and her dirty mind.
