Let's Do Something Fun

VINNY

I hated seeing my best friend y/n down in the dumps and stressed. She was constantly studying twenty-four hours a day because he wanted to be top of her class when she graduated from college. I hadn't chosen to go to college because I was offered the gig as touring drummer for Motionless In White and now I was a full member and was living my dream.

y/n was studying history, but her passion lay in tattoos so she was doing an apprenticeship alongside her studies which took up a lot of her time, and as a result, her grades had started to slip. She'd tattooed me and damn she was detailed, if I could only get tattooed by one person for the rest of my life it would be y/n.

"Come on y/n put down the book, you've been reading the same two pages for the last half hour."

I try to take the book off of her but she overpowers me and scowls.

"We can't all live our dream Vinny; some of us need to study to pass exams and stuff."

I scoff and roll my eyes, and then an idea pops into my head. I knew exactly how to get y/n to distress.

"Come on y/n let's do something fun. Thirty minutes and then you can come back and stick your nose in a book."

y/n looks up from her book and studies me with curious eyes before reluctantly shutting the book.

"Thirty minutes Vinny and then you have to promise to leave me alone to study."

I raise my hands in surrender and smirk.

"Thirty minutes y/n and then I'll leave."

Y/N

You get into Vinny's car and fasten your seatbelt; it was kind of nice to get out of your apartment. You'd had your nose in a book for the past two weeks trying to get your grades back up. Your parents were very strict and had paid to put you through college; they expected good grades and scolded you when you started to fail.

Your favourite pastime was tattooing, and Vinny had talked you into taking an apprenticeship under Ryan Ashley who was Balz's wife. You loved it, it made you happy and you were good at it. But tattooing wasn't a real job in your parent's eyes so you had to focus on history.

"We're here y/n. Come on."

You look out of the car window and see that you're at the top of a hill. What the hell was Vinny thinking? This didn't exactly look fun. You climb out of the car and follow after Vinny who was walking further up the hill until he came to a stop at the top. You gasp as you look out over the city, the sight was beautiful.

"Why did you bring me here Vinny?"

"Because you have a lot on your mind and sometimes it's better to get things off your chest. Shout your worries away, you'll feel better for it."

You shake your head, this was ridiculous and only something Vinny would come up with.

"Where do I start?"

Vinny shrugs his shoulders.

"How about with your controlling parents who want you to be a historian, while you want to own your own tattoo shop."

I nod and take a deep breath before clearing my throat, this was a stupid idea but if it made Vinny happy then I'd do it.

"I WANT TO BE A TATTOO ARTIST NOT SOME DULL HISTORIAN! I WANT TO MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS ABOUT MY LIFE! SCREW WHAT MY FAMILY THINK OF ME!"

Vinny whoops and pulls me into a hug, I chuckle and hug him back.

"Did that make you feel any better y/n?"

You hated to admit it but you did feel like some weight had been lifted off your shoulders.

"I think it did Vinny, but how do I confront my parents?"

"I'll be by your side, besides they love me so I'll sweet talk them if I have to."

You couldn't ask for a better friend than Vinny. He knew you better than you knew yourself.
