Just Until I Fall Asleep

You jolt upright in your bed sweating and panting. Your bedroom door flies open and in runs your flatmate and best friend Josh looking good with 3 am bed head.

"Is everything okay y/n? I heard you scream."

You nod your head and clutch your bed sheets feeling stupid for waking Josh up at this early hour.

"I had a nightmare, Josh."

Josh sighs before walking over to your bed and gets under the covers with you. The two of you would never be more than friends, as you'd known each other since the first day of primary school. So it didn't faze either of you to get in the others bed and cuddle. Josh opens his arms and you fall into them.

"Was it the scary films y/n?"

"Yeah, but I don't want to talk about the nightmare because it was scary and I just want to forget it."

Josh strokes your hair, "why do you watch them if they scare you y/n?"

You shrug your shoulders, "you love them, and you had a bad day at the studio so I wanted to make you happy."

Josh awes, "you really are a great friend y/n. Next time just tell me and we'll watch something else."

"Will you stay with me just until I fall asleep Josh?"

You look up at him half expecting him to laugh and call you a baby, but he smiles warmly and nods.

"I'll stay to scare the monsters and bad dreams away y/n. I'll always scare them away. Now close your eyes and sleep."

You close your eyes on his command and cuddle against him until you get into a comfortable position. Josh starts to hum Loverboy, one of your favourite You Me At Six songs. You wouldn't trade Josh for anyone or anything.
