Ramadan day 1! Let's make it count :D
Here goes..
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, he will be forgiven his previous sins." (Sunan an-Nasa'i 2205, Sahih)
Abu Hurairah narrated that:The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. And whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven (Sunan an-Nasa'i 5027, Sahih)
One of the first introductions of Allah mentioned in the Quran is that He is The Most Merciful. Before there was anything, there was Allah and then He created the Throne and He inscribed on His Throne that: "Verily, My Mercy exceeds My Wrath."
We are constantly losing sight of the right path in this world. Some of us are running behind the duniya, some of us are actively striving to get rid of our bad habits, some of us make resolutions but forget about them later and some of us fall from grace in spite of trying our hardest—but all of us are invariably, sinning.
It's a truth as clear as day. We are all works in progress, our skin smelling of the strength it takes to survive in this world. We are constantly being pulled between what we want to do and what we ought to do, and it is of course, hard to find your footing in the principles you believe in—to reach that ultimate goal of submission to Allah SWT.
And all of this would have been impossible if not for the infinite Mercy of Our Lord. His Love oozes in the way He picks us up when we fall, gives us the strength to fight the whispers of shaytan and it is because of His Incredible Mercy that we even feel the guilt of our sins.
And with that guilt comes the realization of how absolutely tiny and insignificant we are, falling prey to the whispers of a being that is not physically present or forcing us to do the wrong things that we do.
We are just a speck in this universe. Not even close to anything in front of the Majesty of Our Lord.
Yet He Loves us, Wants to forgive us, Wants us to ask Him for Help, Wants us to come near Him.
Can you even feel the Love?
That the Lord of The Worlds would take the time to listen to me when I call upon Him is a feeling so over whelming that I just can't even begin to describe it.
The Lord of the freakin' universe WANTS to forgive me while I wallow in self pity at my inefficacies. It is actually one of Shaytan's tricks. He wants us to believe that we are worthless, that we have gone way too far, that there is no redemption left for us—well guess what?
Allah's big on second chances.
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful. (Surah Zumar, verse 53)
When your sins stack up too high, tell them that they can never be bigger than the Mercy of Your Lord. NEVER EVER EVER EVER DESPAIR OF HIS MERCY.
An interesting example drawn by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan (Wuddup favorite teacher reference;)
Allah forgave the Bani Israel for a lot of times that they messed up but the one time they were asked to enter the city of Jericho while prostrating and saying, "Hittatun" (Relieve us of our burdens) some of the people changed it and that's when Allah sent down the 'Azab from the sky. They had done the grave mistake of mocking Allah's Mercy Astagfirullah. And we do that too, when we think that our sins are too big to be forgiven.
So boundless is the Mercy of Our Lord that when we sincerely repent to Him, He converts our bad deeds into good deeds.
LIKE HOW MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL CAN ALLAH GET?
*cries*
And the bonus offer is this month! Yes, the month of Ramadan, the easiest way to get our sins forgiven:
*Fast sincerely
*Stand at night for the voluntary night prayer
*Spend the night of Qadr in prayer
And all of this coupled with faith and hoping for reward. See how it's hinting at always hoping and expecting the best from Allah?
Verse 53 of Surah Zumar fills us all with hope, that no matter how many times the people around us disown us for our short comings, our Lord never will.
Highway robbers and murderers have returned back to Allah after listening to this verse. When will we?
