When Ibrahim AS was commanded to sacrifice his most beloved thing in the entire world, it didn't make sense to him

When Ibrahim AS was commanded to sacrifice his most beloved thing in the entire world, it didn't make sense to him. But he didn't care for logic. His only concern was that Allah had asked for it, and he was willing to do it immediately. He had to make a choice between Allah and his worldly love, and He chose Allah.

When Ismael AS was told by his father that he must sacrifice him, it didn't make sense to him either. But he replied so beautifully that Allah immortalised his response in this mesmerizing ayah, for millions to take inspiration from.

He was quick to accept whatever fate Allah had chosen for him. No after thought. No ifs, no buts.

Only,"سمعنا واطعنا" (We hear and we obey)

Every Eid ul Adha, when you dress up your finest and put a knife to the sacrificial animal, stop for a second and reflect. Over the rich legacy the prophets left for us.

Over the strength of Iman of Ibrahim AS that gave him the honour of being "Khaleelullah"

Over the patience and obedience hidden behind Ismael AS 's response.

Over their willingess to do anything and everything Allah commanded them to do.

The hijab may not make sense to you, the fact that music is haram may not make sense to you, why dating is haram may not make sense to you, but it has never been about making sense. It has been about submitting yourself truly, as a slave. What do you choose, the world or Allah? What is your sacrifice, the next Eid-ul-Adha?

And what better time than Ramadan to make a start? "Think of all the things you don't want to be doing when the Angel of Death comes to you, then leave them for the sake of Allah."
