Every prophet came to his people with a miracle.

RasoolAllah's Sallallahu Alayhiwassalam miracle was the Qur'an.

The Qur'an came down as a favor, as a gift to us all filled with guidance and knowledge and hope and peace.

It was sent down to be our companion, not to accumulate dust on our book shelves.

Like our companions or relatives have rights on us, the Qur'an also has certain rights over us.

The Qur'an has five rights that we must all know and strive to fulfill.

1. Iman :

It is to believe that this book is from Allah and Allah alone, sent to Muhammad peace be upon him, through the Angel Jibreel.

It is to believe that it has come down as a continuation and end to the other heavenly books like Bible and the Torah.

It is to believe in every command, every ayah, every word and not to question its authenticity.

2. To be read as it is supposed to be read.

"Read in the name of your Lord, who created you! " ~ Surah Alaq, verse 1

It means to recite the Qur'an in a proper manner pleasantly and slowly with Tajweed and Tarteel.

We often in the month of Ramadan recite at such speeds that we do not even understand what the words are. This is a complete no! The quality of your recitation will take preference over your quantity!

You with me till here?
