The next time someone tells you Islam doesn't treat women equally, show them this ayah from the Qur'an. While the world  is still plagued with prejudice against women and crimes like female infanicide, the Qur'an has been calling them out for their evil acts for 1400 years.

»Al-Adab Al-Mufrad ( Looking After Girls - 78)

Jabir ibn 'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Anyone who has three daughters and provides for them, clothes them and shows mercy to them will definitely enter the Garden." A man from the people said, "And two daughters, Messenger of Allah?" He said, "And two."

»Jamiat Tirmidhi (Chapters on Righteousness And Maintaining Good Relations With Relatives - 23)

Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever has three daughters, or three sisters, or two daughters, or two sisters and he keeps good company with them and fears Allah regarding them, then Paradise is for him.(Hasan)

»"The best of you are those who are best to your wives. "

»Sahih Muslim (The Book of Virtue, Enjoining Good Manners, and Joining of the Ties of Kinship - 2)

Narrated Abu Huraira reported that a person said, Allah's Messenger, who amongst the people is most deserving of my good treatment? He said: Your mother, again your mother, again your mother, then your father, then your nearest relatives according to the order (of nearness).

In the pre-Islamic Arabia, women were subjugated and treated like objects. They had no economic or social security and were completely at their husband's mercy.

They had no inheritance rights and their husbands would divorce them multiple times and take them back multiple times to torture them endlessly.

At such a dark period of time, Islam came.

This Islam--that the media wants you to believe is oppressive-- uplifted women and gave them the right to live as respectable human beings.

Islam is the religion whose first follower was a woman.

Islam is the religion whose first martyr was a woman.

Islam is the religion where the act of one lone woman (Hajera RadhiAllahu anha) was included in the rites of hajj and umrah and no man, woman or child will be able to complete their pilgrimage without performing the Saii'. (Between Safa and Marwah)

There is an entire surah about women in the Qur'an. (Surah Nisa)

The voice of one woman (Khawla bint Thalabah) reached the 'Arsh, the throne of Allah above all the seven heavens and He responded to her in the form of an entire Surah and it is the only Surah in the entire Qur'an where the name Allah is used in every single verse.
(Surah Mujadilah)

Allah has never differentiated between the two genders. They get the same reward and the same punishment, for He is the Just.

It is really sad to see the rampant misogyny in the Muslim world. It is so frustrating because it paints Islam in a shade that is just so wrong!

I think we as girls and women must stand up and make our voices heard. We need to show the world that our Hijab is our identity, our religion is our life and that it is these things that make us who we are.

We are proud to be recognised as Muslim women. We are beautiful, confident and struggling.

We are believers in our Lord's justice. We do not care about our status in this world, for we are aiming for our ultimate abode--Jannah.

Rise against the misogyny, my dear sisters.

Rise high above all the insults and stares, oppression and bias and show the world that you can be anything you want to be, because your Lord is your Guardian and He will suffice you.

May Allah help us follow the path of Khadija, Asiya, Maryam and Fatima (May Allah be pleased with them all), the greatest women in Islam and our role models.

Ameen! :')
