*disclaimer - I have not seen Alice through the Looking Glass, but had to use some of the concept for this chapter. This isn't the storyline at all, but I made half of it up for Skylar's storyline. I just used the fact of weaving Father Time to Alice*
I walk in the store, the tiny bell ringing up top.
"We're closed," Gold says, not bothering to look who it was.
"Really? You told me that it was open to me when ever you were in here," I say. He turns, seeing me, and a small smile appearing on his face.
"Skylar," he says, with a nod.
"So Skylar hours still apply?"
"Of course,"
Like I said, Gold and I had a good relationship when I lived here. He told me as long anyone was in here, it worked just like business's hours to me. I even made a little sign when I was 7. The orphanage would allow the orphans free time. I always spent mine here.
"You know what I want," I say, walking up to the counter.
"I have a couple things in mind. You've sold a lot of things to here,"
"I want the two things you promised to never sell. And possibly a couple other things," I say. He sighs and opens his safe, pulling out two things. I get a glimpse of something in there.
"Wait, wait, wait," I say, going behind the counter. I open the safe up completely and pull out the little piece of white cardboard.
"Wait, that's not-"
"You kept it?" I ask, looking up at him. He sighs and nods.
"You were like a granddaughter to me," I smile and look at my bad 7-year-old handwriting. "Skylar's hours - whenever Mr. Gold is here," it read. I smile and hand it back. He tucks it back into the safe. I go around the counter and look at the two beloved items that I sold for the money I desperately needed. I pick up the chain first. It was made of real gold, and went to the stop watch. It had intraquit designs on it, and a special kind of - glow - to it. I wanted to pawn the watch, too, but gold advised me not to.
"Gold - I have a question," I say.
"Okay. Ask away,"
"Who were my parents in the Enchanted Forest?"
"Well, you didn't live in the enchanted forest. You lived in Wonderland," He says.
"Like, Alice in Wonderland?" He laughs.
"That's your story," he says.
"What?"
"You're mother was Alice,"
"Alice?"
"And your actual grandfather, was Father Time," he says, picking up the stop watch. "Ever wonder why your father's most beloved item was a watch? His father gave it to him,"
"So my grandmother was Mother Nature...?"
"Yes. But you see, not for a long time. Once the person who holds the power of Mother Nature and Father Time pass, the role goes to someone else. Your father's mother - Mother Nature at the time - passed very early on. You never met her. Then, his father started abusing his power. Losing his wife planted a darkness in his heart. He went to Wonderland - and he wanted to take it over. That's how your father met your mother. They met in Wonderland. When you were born, they decided they wanted you to live somewhere safer - away from your grandfather. They took you to the enchanted forest, but Alice soon found she was needed in Wonderland again to help the Hatter against your own grandfather. She ended up getting his watch - what held all his power - from him. She sent it back to the Enchanted Forest and it got back to your father. When the curse came around, your father didn't want you to be a baby forever, and sped up your again process right before the magic consumed you. You were six when all aging and time stopped in the curse. I know you think your father is dead, but he just never made it here when the curse happened. I think it had something to do with messing with his and his father's magic. He just, never got here. He could still be alive,"
"Wow. So, how much do I owe you?" I ask, taking the chain into my hands.
"Nothing. It's yours," he says. I smile and move over to the next item - something that gave me so much hope.
