Chapter 12: Brand New
Tessie, Tex’s maid, who just happened to be standing near, said, “Mr. Tex, you better get the missus to a doctah!”
For the first time since the chicken fight, Tex looked at Ms. Cosmo with love in his eyes. He swept her up in his arms and said, “Dang it if you ain’t the prettiest lil ol’ thing on this ranch. I’m gonna make sure that I don’t lose you.”
With that, Tex walked over to the fireplace and pulled out a branding iron that said: “Tex’s Long Horn Cow.”
Ms. Cosmo came out of her faint just as Tex was heading for her with the red hot branding iron, saying, “Darlin’, this won’t hurt a bit.”
