Chapter 8: The Return of Fluff-Fluff
When Ms. Cosmo regained consciousness, she was in a bed with her arms around Fluff-Fluff, whom she hadn’t seen since she had been in Saks the day before.
“Oh Fluff-Fluff, she said, with tears in her eyes, “let us promise never to part again!”
Fluff-Fluff smiled, but didn’t say anything. Slowly he moved his tail toward a button at the side of the bed and pushed it. An alarm rang, and Madame La Creme came running in.
“What are *You* doing here?” she shrieked, “Fluff-Fluff, get away from her, you might catch something embarrassing!”
Fluff-Fluff acted like he had been trying to get away all along, and that Madame La Creme was his liberator. He jumped out of Ms. Cosmo’s arms and ran up to Madame La Creme, who said, “I’ll pet you as soon as you’ve had a bath and have been to the doctor. I’m sure you understand.” She looked at Ms. Cosmo with revulsion as she said these words.
Then she walked towards Ms. Cosmo with her knife-tipped shoes, and Ms. Cosmo decided that it was time to leave, so she jumped out the window.
The curtains closed for the intermission of the movie/play. As the audience went to the rest rooms and the candy counter, they talked about Ms. Cosmo’s merits as an actress and whether she would soon have a talk show. They went back to their seats with excitement, as the curtains opened again.
