Chapter 6

I blink away sleep and shift in my bunk. My eyes open wide when I feel someone else in my bunk with me. I quickly shift around to face who it is. My eyes widen in shock. Lauren? What is she doing in my bunk? Why are her eyes red? Has she been crying? I stare at her sleeping form. She looks so peaceful. I don’t know how long I’m looking at her but soon she shifts a little and blinks her eyes open. Her emerald eyes meet my brown ones. My heart melts are how adorable sleepy Lauren looks. I smile a little. Lauren closes her eyes again and groans a little cuddling closer to me. My breath hitches. Lauren hasn’t as much as looked at me in months and she’s cuddling with me. A small smile makes its way onto my lips and I wrap my arm around her waist. She opens her eyes again and rubs at them a little. She’s so cute! She looks into my eyes. “Hi” She rasps out. Oh. Oh her morning voice. I blink and smile a little. “Hey there” I whisper. Her eyes search mine. Looking for something. I furrow my brow. “Lauren? What’s wrong?” I ask her. I can see tears forming in her eyes but she blinks them back. I feel her arms circle around my back and pull me closer to her. She holds onto me like I’m going to disappear. I rub her back as I feel hot tears hit my shoulder. I furrow my brow pulling back a little to look at her. She looks at me with so much pain in her eyes. Her beautiful emerald eyes now clouded with gray. I wipe away her tears. “Lo? Talk to me, what’s wrong?” I ask her calmly. She sniffles. Oh Lauren. My heart clenches at how upset she is. “I’m so sorry.” She chokes out. I furrow my brow. “Sorry for what?” I ask confused. “For avoiding you. I don’t know why I did. I just started avoiding you and I can’t stand it anymore. I miss my Allycat.” She sobs out pulling me into her again. I sigh rubbing her back. “It’s okay Laur” I whisper kissing the top of her head. She hides her face in my shoulder. “Hey” I whisper making her look at me. “I missed you too.” I say with a smile and she laughs a little through her tears. I wipe away her tears again. “Stop crying Lo, you’re too beautiful to cry.” I say making her blush and smile a little. “There’s that smile.” I say smiling. She hugs me again finally calming down. Soon enough she ends up falling back asleep and I stare at the top of my bunk. I smile a little continuing to run my fingers up and down her back. I missed this so much. I frown. No. No I can’t. I can’t leave Lauren. But I need to. I haven’t missed a day. If Lauren ever found out. Oh God she would blame herself. I shake my head. I will have to do it when Lauren hangs out with one of the other girls. Which she’ll do when she wakes up. At least I hope she does. I sigh and kiss her forehead trying to fight back my tears and ignore my thoughts. I know this won’t last. I’ll be invisible to her once again soon enough
