Lillian's P.O.V
Where is the time going?
As if it was nothing school has been flying by. The couple of weeks I had to get ready for homecoming has turned into a couple of days and I'm not ready at all.
Not ready mentally anyway.
I sigh as I sit down at the lunch table with the usual crew. Justin, Riley, and now Calum.
Calum has his arm wrapped around Riley's shoulder making Riley's face a tinted pink, Justin who was once again ranting about his Gym class and well I was once again in a daze just thinking."Lilly, are you even listening to me?" Justin says while snapping his fingers in front of my face.
"Huh? Yea. Yea I am. Sorry." I tell him while taking my attention from the table. He squints his eyes before speaking again.
"Then what did I just say?" He questions with his eyes still squinted.
"Um, something how Mr.Roberts did something you didn't like?" I state in more of a questioning tone. Riley lets out a laugh while Calum just shakes his head. Justin groans.
"No. That's not even remotely close to what I said. I asked you were you going to homecoming?" He tells me while shaking his head and taking a sip of his Sprite. I nod instead of speaking as Luke walks in the Cafe. His head facing down towards the floor. His hands deep into his front pockets. he has headphones in his ears as well. I chew on my thumbnail as his posture showed he had a lot on his mind. He was hunched over and wasn't even looking where he was going. When he sat down he ignored his greeting from his friends and just looked at the table.
"Lillian Piper. Earth to Lillian non-listening Piper." Justin says banging the part of the table I was sitting at. I quickly turn my attention back to him as Riley and Calum were laughing at me once again. I let out a small laugh as he spoke.
"Once again, who are you going to homecoming with?" He asks while taking another sip of Sprite.
"Ryan." I mumble as I look away from them with a tinted face just like Riley's. I hear Justin almost choke on his drink then he went into a coughing fit. Riley just sits there quietly as Calum pats Justin on the back. I look back up at them and they were all just staring at me.
"Did you say Ryan?" Calum asks making sure everyone at the table heard me right.
"Yea. He asked me at a party like two weeks ago." I tell them tuning them out once again and looking back over at Luke. This time he had Maddie by his side and he had a small smile on his face. I roll my eyes at the sight and quickly turn back to my friends who were still ranting about Ryan.
"Just don't do anything you'll regret with him. Okay?" I hear Calum say with sensibility.
"Okay. I won't." I tell him with a sincere smile. He nods as him and Riley went back to talking about their colors for homecoming.
"Well what about you, Justin?" I ask him while playing with the apple I failed to bite into yet.
"Nah I'm not going. I gotta hot date instead. We're going to the movies. Her name is Stacy McGowan. She's in my history class." He states with a small smile on his face.
"Oh I know who you're talking about. She's in my cooking class. She's sweet." Riley pipes in while stealing one of Calum chips and popping it into her mouth. He sends her a playful death glare before moving the bag. She sticks her tongue out at him before reaching for the bag again.
Why can't I have an uncomplicated relationship life. It's either me making Luke angry or Luke being a dick. It's never a moment where we haven't knocked heads. Well there has been some moments that I enjoyed with him, but they never seem to last long enough. Maybe I should just stop trying with Luke because it seems like it's never going to work out and plus it's pretty obvious that he does not feel the same thing I feel for him. It's sucks watching him with Maddie for the last two weeks because he seems so happy besides today. It makes my heart ache to talk to him again because we haven't spoken since the party two weeks ago and I just miss the raspy yet soft tone of his voice. I miss his baby blue eyes piercing into mine when he listened to what I was saying or when he did that cute little foot thing when he got nervous. I just miss him in general, but I guess that ship that held our feelings for each other has sailed and it's long gone. This sucks. A lot.
Even though I never had a boyfriend before and I can't tell you the full effect when you fall for someone, but I'm pretty sure I'm falling well fell for Luke. It's the small things he does that would make my feel the silliest of ways, such as when he would call me the simplest names like princess or baby girl, my heart would just melt. Another thing he did was when he genuinely laugh and his eyes crinkle then his eyes would sparkle and it would make my stomach just feel uneasy, but of course in a good way.
Bringing me back to reality, the bell rung dismissing us from Lunch. I forgot to go to my locker before Lunch now I'm rushing."Guys I have to run to my locker so I'll just meet you all in class." I tell them not even waiting for an answer. I speed walk out of the Cafe and make a sharp right. I quickly walk to my locker and make it there in a mere minute. I grab my English book and place my other books back inside of the locker. I sigh heavily before shutting my locker only to jump because someone is leaning on the locker next to mine.
"Well hello gorgeous." Ryan says while pushing himself off the locker. I look at him and smile.
"Hello Ryan." I tell him while turning to him. He smiles and start walking only for me to walk to catch up with him.
"Where are you headed to?" He asks while throwing his arm around my shoulders making me blush.
"English. You got to love how to learn the meaning of a poem. Again." I say with an eye roll, the sarcasm clearly in my tone of voice. He laughs before tucking his free hand in his back pocket. I held my book closely to my chest as I avoid the stares from people who obviously never seen Ryan and I together. We walk and talk until we approach the English room.
"So I'll see you later if not tomorrow." He tells me quickly while dropping his arms from around my shoulder. He glances inside and a smirk forms on his lips. Before I could comprehend what he was doing, he swiftly bends down and kisses my lips. I look at him with wide eyes for a minute before realizing what just happened. He winks before waltzing off down the hallway. I stand outside for a few seconds before walking into English with confusion clouding my brain. I look up and instantly look back at Luke, who had a half snapped pencil on his desk. His face was twisted with anger as he rolls his eyes at me when his eyes met mine. I look at him before letting my gaze fall to the ground. I walk to my seat before sliding in the desk. I don't know why I'm acting like this when I caused it all. I'm the one who tried to play Luke's unknown games and I'm just hurting myself. I really should have left relationships and feelings alone. I never felt anything like this in the past three years of high school, but in my final year it's all of a sudden. I let out a sigh as the tardy bell rang throughout the school.
Instead of listening like I normal do I sit there and think about what happened earlier. When Ryan kissed me, it felt nothing like Luke's. I never ever felt something for Ryan like the way I feel for Luke. It makes me feel stupid that I'm wasting time with Ryan and messing with my own emotions plus Luke is clearly feeling some type of way about this whole thing. How does he think I feel when he's walking around with Maddie like they're so in love. It's sickening really.
Snapping out of my thoughts, my phone vibrated against my thigh. I grab my phone and sit in by the book on my desk to see who texted me.
It was Calum.From: Cal x
What's up with hot head?I let out a defeat sigh before groaning inward, not knowing out loud until Mr.Jones said something.
"Is there a problem, Ms.Piper?" He asked with a confused look on his face. Probably because I never make a sound in here.
"No sir. I'm sorry." I tell him while a little blush crept onto my face. Everyone turned back to what they were doing except Luke, who let his blue eyes linger a little longer than everyone else's. He shakes his head before turning back around. I let out a big huff of air as my phone vibrated again.
