Jamada

The light burned my eyes as I opened them, and I quickly closed them to stop the burning.

I slowly opened them until they finally adjusted to the light.

"Uhhhhhhhhhhh." I groaned as I picked my head off the bar counter. I instantly got a headache and began to rub my head, hoping to ease the pain.

"Finally awake are ye?" A rough voice said next to me.

I looked to my left and saw a dwarf with a red beard and brown eyes cleaning a mug.

Dwarves. I hate dwarves. And it's not because I'm a kobold, which all kobolds hate dwarves, but I have a hatred for dwarves for personal reasons. However, the dwarf bard Narrin, is probably the first dwarf I have ever liked.

"How many drink did I have?" I asked. "I lost count after 22."

"54." Narrin said, reaching for another mug to clean. "Ye been been out since yesterday."

"I've been out for a day?" I said. I another stinging pain in my head and began to rub the side of my head.

"Here." I heard him say as he passed a glass of water to me. "Sip on that through the day, and that'll get rid ye's headache."

"Thank you." I said, as I poured the water into one of my empty vials. I jumped off the set, walked out of bar and I began to walk around the town.

Despite the town's size it had a pretty good population of people. There were wizards selling spell books, Clerics going about the day in their robes, and there were a few entertainers on the streets, shooting fire, electricity, or whatever to make the people smile. I passed by one guy who was juggling a fire ball, a knife, and a live viper. I shook my head as I took another sip of water. My headache was gradually going away, but it would still be a while before it was gone completely.

I decided to go to an alchemist shop to get some new supplies and try to get my mind off my headache. The shop I entered had different planets on the walls, most of which were poisonous. In the back of the shop, was an elf at the counter, with blond hair and goggles over his eyes. He was pouring in different chemicals in a bootle, and writing down the different reactions.

Elves. That is a race I like. They are intelligent, graceful, beautiful race, though there not very strong.....like me. Eh, well........ 3 out of 4 isn't bad.

He seemed to finally notice me, and took his goggles off, reveling lime green eyes.

"Ah adventurer." He said. "Jamada is it?" I nodded. "Ah forgive me, I tend to get caught up in my work and forget what is happening around me."

"I understand." I said. "I'm the same way." There are days that I get caught up in my work, that I forget to eat and sleep for days. When I met Rattle and Venom, they would break me out if my trance and tell me to eat or sleep. They still do that.

"How can I help you?" He asked.

"Just need some supplies." I said handing him a list.

Once I had everything, I decided to buy some poisonous leaves. When I was about to walk out the door, the elf stopped with a question. "Your scales." He said. "Can I have some of your scales?"

"For what reason?" I asked.

He shrugged. "To test."

I reached around my tail, and got five lose brass scales. I three more on my left arm and two more on my right.

"Thank you." He said. "And come again."

I continued my stroll through the town, watching it come alive, and people occasionally thanking me again, when a question appeared in my head. Were are Rattle and Venom?

I knew that they wouldn't be at the bar, because I didn't see them there and they wouldn't even be there. I decided to go to the church and see if anyone saw them. The large building was actually two churches, the left being a church of Desna goddess of luck, and the right Phrasma goddess of death. I went into the middle of the complex and saw the high priest Galdana.

"Ah, Jamada." He said. "How were those drinks?"

"Fine." I said. "Have you seen my companions?"

"Yeah. There in the mayors house. They have been there since yesterday." He said.

That was all I need. I knew exactly were it was. It was the biggest house in the town. I took another sip of my water and went out on the street. Two minutes later I found the Two storey house. I knocked on the door and saw a servant answer the door. The woman instantly reganized me and waved me in. There were two sets of stairs on either side of the room, with book cases along the walls. There was candles lit around the room, and in the center, were chairs around a table with my companions and the mayor.

"Jamada." Melaku said standing up. "I was about to have a servant go get you. Please sit."

I walked up and sat next to him with Rattle and Venom a chair away to my left. They had there eyes locked on to the books they were reading, but waved when I sat down.

"How is your stay?" He asked.

"Good." I said. "The people here are really nice."

"As they should be. After all you saved my town." He said. "For that, you can stay as long as you wish."

"Thank you Melaku." I said. "I think we may stay for a few days."

He smiled. "Good to hear. Well, in the meantime, would you care to tell me of any more adventures you had?" He got up and got a bottle of wine and poured it into two goblets. "I do like a good story."

"Of course." I said cheerfully." I'm always happy to have a chat with someone. I hardly ever do." I took a sip of the wine.

"How is it?" He asked.

"Fine." I said. "But I prefer beer."
