"You did what now?" I asked Rattle and Venom as we sat in a bar in Quantium. The port city in Nex was quite a diverse place. A creature considered a monster or worse in the ports of the inner sea is merely a citizen here.
"The half-elf claimed to be stronger than us, so we took the liberty to "strengthen" our power and took some pages from the codex." Rattle said after taking a sip of wine poured by a ifirt waitress.
"That would explain the sour look on his face when we got to the temple." Tamora said. Once holy water was poured onto Morrigans ashes, Klarr carried me to the carriage and Seltyiel offered a ride to take me to a temple of Norgorber in a nearby city. The oracle, Sarvin, knew some healing magic and healed some of my wounds, but I felt ten times better once we got to the temple. We said our goodbyes there but I couldn't help but notice that the half-elf gave Rattle and Venom a sour look, but didn't say anything.
"Get anything useful?" I asked. Rattle and Venom smirked.
"Lets just say they may become useful in future battles." Venom said. All I could do was laugh.
"So how useless is it now?" Klarr asked. The gnoll was a little reluctant to enter the city, but once he entered and noticed no one really cared what he looked liked he settled down.
"With some of the pages burned, and that we took some pretty powerful spells, there is still some power still in it, though its far from what it once was." Rattle said.
"Couldn't Seltyiel just take it back if he wanted to?" Tamora asked. The two brothers chuckled. "Let him try." They both said in unison. Me and Tamora justed looked at each other and smiled.
"So....what now?" Klarr asked. "Where will you go?"
"We found a ship to sail us to Absalom while the clerics were healing Jamada." Rattle said. "He's a nice individual, and should face no problems while sailing."
"Wait, you sould like as though your not coming with us." Tamora stated. Klarr nodded.
"I said that I would help you fight the vampire, and now with it dead, and Jamada safe, I'm heading back to the Mana Wastes." Klarr said. "You don't want me to come with you do you?"
"Of course we do!" Tamora said. "Why wouldn't we?"
"I am a gnoll Tamora. My kind has always been looked down upon. My place is in the desert, away from civilization. I also understand that you four already have.....problems with society from what stories you told me." He stated. "I would only be a burden to you my friends. Besides........no one really wants to be friends with a gnoll."
"I figured you might say that." I said hoping off my seat, hearing the footsteps of the...individual I told to see me once he was done. "That's why I went ahead and had this forged." The doors opened and a huge golem stepped through, made of bronze steel, and a forge in its chest, the construct got to a knee and opened its hand.
"Your weapon that you requested. I done all the measurements and everything you asked." It said. I grabbed the weapon with both hands and I had to struggle a little to hold it up."Thanks Ghehn." I said as it walked out.
I walked to Klarr as he starred at the weapon I was carrying with wide eyes. "I understand you lost your weapon to the clockwork golem, when I was busy fighting Morrigan, so I had a new weapon made for you." I held up the weapon for him to see. From what they told me, the clockwork golem snapped the warhammer in half like a twig and stepped on. While the weapon had served him well, it wasn't very efficient, so I had a new one made. It was much like the old one, with the Gorum symbol on the side, same length and everything, but there was one detail missing......
"The spear head is missing." He said as he picked it up in both hands, a look of aw on his face as he examined it.
"Turn the top part of the handle." I said. He looked at the handle and saw it was two pieces, and that the top could be turned. He turned the top part of the handle and made a click. The hammer part slip into four bits and slid away from one another, making room for a spear head to poke from the middle. The handle also increased in length, making it possible it be thrown. "Wow." Tamora said as she gazed at the weapon. Klarr stared at the weapon and switched it back to its original stat, then back again.
"Its beautiful." He said.
"Its is. However, there is one condition." I said as I hoped back onto my seat. "That weapon was a bit...shall we say......pricey.....so I figured that you could pay it off by...........working for us, till you paid your debt." He just looked at me with blank eyes, then gazed at the others, then when he looked back at me, I could see tears begin to form in his eyes.
"I......" He blinked hard, getting the moisture out of his eyes and smiled. "I would be honored to travel with you Jamada." Tamora screamed with joy and hugged Klarr, jumping up and down. Klarr seemed to be equally as happy, and a bit surprised by her sudden outburst and hugged back. I just smiled.
"So how much was it really?" Rattle whispered to me is Draconic.
"About thirty gold coins."I whispered back. "It was originally one hundred and twenty but I had a conversation with the construct for a while and gave me a discount, because it never had anyone want to talk to it, and is surprisingly a conversationalist." The two of them just smirked and rolled their eyes.
"So.."Klarr said when Tamora was done."You think that ship will be willing to sail with a gnoll?"
"Indeed." Rattle said and he got up out of his chair and began to walk out."Follow me." We followed him through the crowed midday city, which was quite a sight just seeing some of the the inhabitants walking around. Such inhabitants were Goblins, others Gnolls, Tieflings, some kobolds, and I even spotted a few drow. We got to the docks and they stopped in front of merchant ship with Tian Xia painting styles of nagas on the side of the ship. The front of the ship held a beautiful naga women made of gold looking up towards the sun. I suddenly saw someone walk towards us from the ship and saw it was a nagaji. He had bright green scales on his body, with bright orange eyes, and wore a dark green Tien styled robe, with draconic symbols on it and nagas slithering up the robe.
"So these are your friends, Rattle." The nagaji said, and he politely bowed. "It is a pleasure to meet you."
"Thank you, and the pleasure is ours." I said. I immediately figured why Rattle and Venom picked this sailer. Nagaji generally prefer other reptilian races, since they themselves are kin to nagas, and I figured they bonded pretty well, since Rattle and Venom are snakes, much like their naga masters."We thank you for taking us with you."
The nagaji bowed again."It is always a pleasure to help those in need and from what your friend told me, you have been denied that help for some time. Please, come make yourselves comfortable." We followed him up the ramp and showed us to a large table on the boat with rugs on the floor. He motioned us to sit in chairs at the table, which only had a few, and sat down. "We were just getting ready to leave."
"But.....I don't see anyone else up here. Is there more?" Tamora asked.
"Oh no. We don't need anyone too. My dearest wife, Vriskirsa, controls the boat." He looked behind us and I turned around to see on the quarterdeck a naga with slender spines and bright colored frills stretch back from her human like face. The body looked like that of a water snake, with brightly patterned scales and glistening fins flashing like gems in the breeze. The nagaji nodded to his spouse and the water naga uttered a spell and the sails flew open. A strong breath appeared out of nowhere and we took off.
"So your friend told me that you are adventures correct?" The nagaji asked. I nodded. "Tell me, what did you all do before you arrived here?" I just turned to my friends and we all smiled.
"That is one heck of a long story."
