Jamada
Three more days past and there was no sign of either the helm or of Morrigan.
I was starting to get worried if we would ever find them. An entire week has gone by and we had nothing to show for. I drew a map of Port Peril in my formula book and had squares drawn in it, to represent all of the stands and shops. All of them were marked off. Bukka told us that he went to talk with the guild masters, but they wouldn't even talk to him when he asked about the helm and they sent him away. He said they looked afraid when he asked, and he had no idea why.
On the plus side however, I had the Black Box in my possession again. Rattle briefly went over on how he got the device back. It did surprise me more than a little when he told me the thief who took the Black Box was a kitsune, seeing as how their kind is seldomly encountered on this side of the world. It also surprised me with how much disdain he spoke of this Herzago character, but knowing him it could have simply been that he was a mammal, and I couldn't help but notice that when spoke his name he looked in Bukkas direction.
As great as it was to have it back, the dread soon returned. What if Morrgian already found it and was already toying with us? What if his plans were already under way?
I sat in our usual spot in the Three Swords tavern by myself. We made the decision two days ago to go around the city by ourselves to try increase our chances of finding the helm, but that hasn't work. I tossed a bomb from hand to hand while I waited for the others. Some people would probably be more careful with explosives, but if I was careful all the time then I wouldn't be an alchemist.
"Surely there must be someone." I heard Venoms voice say. I looked up and saw they were already at the table and got drinks. I put the bomb away, realizing that I didn't hear them while deep in thought.
"No one." Bukka said. "They either got arrested, died, or moved somewhere else. Bukka will have to make new friends when this is over with."
"Ok so what else can we do? None of the guilds masters will talk to you, and I doubt they will talk to us." Rattle said.
"I asked a few church's and temples if they heard anything about it, but none of them have." I said. "I tried to hire some clerics but they simply walked away."
"What churches did you go to?"
"Gozreh, a few Besmara, and I made the mistake of going into a Calistria temple." I shuttered. "Who knew the elves could be so......." I shock my head, blocking the memories of what I saw to focus on what was at hand, though I doubt I will ever forget the poor man's look on his face that was.....with those eight elves, and not all of them were female.
"I saw a few Norgorber churches and a temple in the south side of town." Rattle said, referring to the god of murder. "I suppose we can check that out later. What else?"
"Well." I said after a few moments thinking. "Could we hire a few rogues or wizards to help us?"
Bukka thought for a moment as well before answering. "Rogues yes, wizards no. There are a couple of wizards here but there are only a handful of them that are actually good, and thier prices aren't exactly cheap."
"Ok so rogues." Venom said. "There might be a few that we saw while coming up here that could suit the job."
"Then lets go." I said already getting out of the chair, knowing we can't waste any more time. We began searching for the people Venom was talking about, but the only people we saw were prostitutes, mercenaries, and a few drunks. The sun was on the horizon so I wasn't worried about Morrigan, but I still wanted to find that helm. We did find a couple of rogues, but some ran away when we made eye contact and others didn't want to be bothered. One person I went to talk to had shark like eyes, and fins running along its arm. I assumed him to be a wereshark-kin, or skinwalker with the wereshark curse in his blood. He saw me approach him and smiled, showing a mouthful of large pointed teeth. I quickly walked away, getting the message. My tail started to swish, a habit I made when I am really nervous. I wasn't nervous about finding any rogues, but I have been thinking about the things I could have done to prevent the whole thing. Like for starters I could have had a priest pour holy water onto Morrigans ash's, or when attacked us in the Sodden lands I could have-
