Portals

The next room that we came into was huge, with arcane writing on the walls. Around the room was portal to different planes.

Some were just a slab of marble carved like doors, both standing, and lying down. The standing slabs were white and the tables were black. Some alters draped with black with melted candles and basins in the center stood in alcoves with strange gates stood in the walls. Hidden in the dark corners were shadowy mirrors with a dark metal form. Other than that, there was nothing else, not even a door to go to the next room.

"So where do we go now? There's no door." Alexia said.

"Search the room." Rattle said. "There may be something to show us how to move forward." With that we split into groups and began to look. Sarvin walked over to the strange gates to examine them but made sure not to touch the alien symbols. I saw Tamora move over to the dark mirrors and I quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her away. "What?" She asked. "I was just going to look at it."

"You don't want to look directly at it." I said, knowing full well what it is. The shadow plane has never been much of a 'merciful' plane, concerning visitors that go into it and looking into it. I've met quite a few people who've looked into it, at the horrid beings that prowl the plane, and have gone insane. "Don't touch it either."

"Why not?" She asked.

"You don't want to know." I said, and I shuttered at the memory of when I visited a college who was fascinated with portals to the planes and constructed a portal to the Shadow plane. However, he wasn't prepared for the fact that some creatures from that plane can posses you, and sadly, with Rattle and Venoms help had to put him down. Granted he would have released the creatures from the plane, but it still haunts me to this day.

I took Tamora and Klarr with me, mainly to keep an eye on them, as I examined the portals in the room. I walked up to one and I read the runes around it.....

"He guys I think I've found it!" I yelled. Suddenly the portal came to life and as I yelled, I got sucked in.

Then in an instant, I found myself falling and I saw myself fall through another portal and I though I was going to hit the ground, but a gust of wind caught me at the last. Confused, I looked around and saw I was still the room with the others........or was I?

"Where am I?" I asked. "Is this a new dimension? AM I A GINGER!?" I saw the half-elf Seltyiel (or supposedly Seltyiel) face palm, Rattle and Venom (supposedly) rub their foreheads and the other looked confused.

"You don't have hair Jamada." Rattle said. "It was just a gate way portal. Nex probably used it to trick invaders." It took a moment for my mind to realize just how stupid I was acting and I immediately scolded myself in my mind.

"Someone mark that one." I heard Seltyiel say as he walked over to examine a gate.

"Going to be honest, not my most shinning moment." I said as Klarr helped me up.

"I'm sure you'll have others to make up for it." Tamora said. "Maybe." And she began to giggle.

"Did you really think you were in a different dimension?" Venom asked.

"Its always possible." I said. He and his brother just rolled their eyes and walked to examine another gateway. I tried to shrug off my embarrassment as I walked up to another portal and instead of sucking me in, when it activated, it showed the plane it went to.

"Wow..." I heard Klarr say as he looked into the plane of water. Inside, it revealed a vast ocean, with bright colorful corals and beautiful fish. "Its beautiful." Tamora whispered. Indeed it is, I thought, as I saw a swarm of bright yellow fish swim by, but where not here to look at-

"What the hell!?"

I turned around and I felt intense heat hit my body, and it felt as though I was standing next to ten forges. I saw Rattle and Venom arms at each other, and between them was a huge fire elemental. The snake like elemental was swimming in the air, coiling in and around itself, trying to escape the brothers control.

"What in Gorums blade is that?" Klarr asked.

"A fire elemental." I said.

"What do you think your doing!?" Seltyiel yelled. "Fire elementals are far to dangerous and one of the most hardest of the elementals to controls. You could get us all ki-" Suddenly the elemental seised its trashing and floated in the air, completely calm.

"Who has summoned the mighty Volcanis?" It asked.

"We did." Rattle and Venom said. The creature moved over to them and looked down at them. They aren't the most physically impressive figure, but what they lack it strength, they make up for in intelligence.

"Why did you summon me?" It asked.

"We beileve we called forth the destructive Fire Giant." Venom said.

"Unless of course it is he who we stand before." Rattle said. It studied them for a moment before nodding in approval.

"We called you to the Material Plane in hope of attaining your help and guidance. I'm assured Nex called you before." Rattle said. The creature nodded.

"He summoned me, and others millennia ago to stop the hoard of Geb." It said. "I will help you you progress through this fortress and assist you against foes that would stand against you. It has been millennia since I have burned anything to ash." I watched as it hovered over to the back of the wall, said an arcane word and a portal appeared. "Come. The keep awaits."
